Hey all.

The ACT Skyline Scene, while good, is not as active as i think it could be.

I'd like to get a bit of an idea as to what you guys would like to do, what sort of things you're into, so that myself and others may better organise events in the future. What i was thinking, was along the lines of not just driving events such as attending track days as a group and cruises, but more social events such as coffees, beers, pizzas, etc. So if anyone has ideas, thoughts on this, please feel free to post them. Not just Skylne drivers either, potential owners, young and old, all is welcome, we're not just a group of people who own some of Nissan's finest, we're a group of people who appreciate Japanese cars and the car scene in general.

Okay, i've had me speel, let's see some posts in here.

THanks guys.

Anything that doesn't attract bogans in VL's or police looking to defect.

i wouldn't mind seeing some BBQ's or something at the Cotter.

I think because of the time of year (cold canberra winter), weekend meets during the day would be nice, when it's a bit warmer.

Not a skyline owner myself, but i will in a couple of years, and would be up for meeting up with the guys from the forums.

i like what the other regions do, havin pizza nites and stuff. Im keen on the idea of maybe going to la porchetta one nite, grab some food, have some drinks, and its warm outside there as they have outdoor heaters. Me Aurora Ash and Contempt met up a few months back and went to gusses cafe and it was good, so would be good to do it again soon and have more people along :(

The cotter idea is good too, aurora knows im always mad keen for some bbq :D

short cruises to someplace for a feed or just a chat would be good, just so we can show the community not all people that drive imports are hoons, unlike a certain current affair show would like to have people think. bbq's out at cotter is an awesome idea. having a group night at a restaurant or some place would be sweet, maybe even a group discount could be organised? also what about going to the footy or cricket as a group depending on the time of year.

i'm up for anything social and warm.

I agree about not attracting Police attention, although if we all prove we can put on a safe cruise, they'll leave us alone anyway.Oh,just a thought:careful about sterotyping car owners:my pride'n'joy is my R32 GTR V Spec, but guess what my daily driver is?I hope I'm not a bogan...True,some drivers of "Australia's finest" are prone to shooting off about their "oh,it's gotta be at least 600hp,7 second gen-you-whine VL 5 litre" street Commodore, but there are a few decent ones out there.I'm sure I've been called a tosser behind my back(or otherwise)at some stage and for no good reason, just for owning a Skyline.I say let the rednecks kill each other off(natural selection,I call it),and we'll all get on with driving whatever makes us feel good!Anyway, that's my rant...Now,about that organised cruise....

Aurora:

ripped from toymods.org, couldnt find a URL, it's in the ACT/NSW section of the forums

CCG Trip to the Temora Aviation Museum/Flying display - 13 June 2004

This official CCG event is a cruise to the Temora Aviation Museum on the Sunday of the long weekend. Basically the Sunday 13th has been chosen for us, as it is the only day the aircraft are actually being brought out to perform their famous flying demonstrations. If we are lucky we may also get to see some of the specialist aerobatics aircraft performing.

Details are as follows (one guess where this will be located!!!)

Date: Sunday, 13 June 2004 (long weekend)

Where: 1 Menzies Street, Temora NSW 2666. Direction signage to the museum is available throughout Temora. Museum opens 10am - closes 4pm. Flying displays are throughout the day from 11am.

Costs: $10 Adults; $5 for Students 3-18 years.

Meet: Its about a 2 to 2 1/2 hour leisurely drive to Temora. We will meet up at 8am at the ACT/NSW border, just past Hall, on the Barton Highway (usual place). We will leave by 8.15, so if you want to join in with the cruise then we suggest you get there for 8.15am. Depending on interest, we will probably stop for a very quick bite at Yass Maccas too.

NOTE: The promoters said they can reserve parking spaces for us in the 'good tar' car park if we can give accurate numbers of cars attending. Therefore, if you are coming, please reply here and we will count your car in for the secure car park.

The flying display is well worth the trip. Don't forget that all intersted non CCG people, friends and fam are more that welcome to attend. So hope to catch up with on the 13th!

Cheers

Mitch & Phil

it's a bit hit and miss sometimes, organising cruises here :)

a few years back (when we were all over at skylinesdownunder.com) we had some good cruises, like to the Cotter (our first ever one) which had a pretty good turnout. We also had a Batemans Bay one which was great, and then when we started these forums i organised one to Kangaroo Valley with the Sydney guys and it was awesome!! But there was ones inbetween that had a dismal turnout..

I've been so unmotivated to bother organising anything lately, and i used to be the motivating everyone else lol

anyway, I'd be keen to do a food/coffee/beer type thing in the afternoon or one night... While the longer cruises are fun, I just can't get my arse out of bed these days to do a Bay cruise or similar due to working late hours.

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
