Fuel Pressure Regulator Buzzing/humming

Ok guys the other nite I had fitted up my plazmaman fuel rail along with the 1000cc xspurts mounted a new magnafuel fpr, re done all the fuel lines. Got the car running but I've got a humming/buzzing noise is coming from the fuel pressure reg. if you hold the reg u can feel it. The noise is quite loud and really annoying. I've played around with the fuel pressure between 30-40psi and the noise changes as you go up In pressure. Any one else come across this? Is it just the pulasation from the fuel pump? The buzzing noise was never there with the factory fuel rail and reg..

If there's no fix for this ie changing the fuel dampner with another one from a different car ill have to change the reg its far too annoying.

What regs are use using that are e85 friendly? Cheers

All regs will make some noise, mainly at idle, especially high flow aftermarket ones. What pump are you using?

You could try rubber isolation of the reg, or fitting the stock dampeners back into the fuel system? I use an SX reg, it has been perfect for many years on ethanol.

Currently it's a walbro 255 intank. The reg was hard mounted and I thought of rubber mounting but even with the reg removed and holding it in your hand the sound is the same. I was reading up else where that after market regs have a stainless needle and seat and pulsations from the fuel pump and injectors opening and closing can make this chatter. What's got me stuffed is the factory fuel damper is still installed but in standard form from the factory, the fuel damper is down stream after the reg on the return line. I thought you would want this installed either after the fuel filter/before the fuel rail, or after the fuel rail and before the fuel reg so the pulsation damper can actually absorb some of the pulsations from the fuel pump and injectors..

    • Hey all. I'm up to doing my oil and water feed lines. Has anyone done a tutorial on this on a 25det Neo? ( I know i should be asking for a tutorial on how to use the search instead, but I couldn't find anything specific) I'm running a Pulsar 3584 on a 6 boost manifold. I could use some advice on what fittings, sizes and where to run the lines. Thanks for any help.
    • Hi, I have someone interested, if it falls through I'll let you know.  I have a brand new set of fronts that  I sourced from Bilstein UK, now revalved and complete with springs to go with the very lightly used rears, if you are interested in a full set. As Duncan has mentioned this is not my job, I sold my suspension business over 10 years ago, but I am here to help when I have the time.  To give you some idea of my schedule I was at SMSP for the State Championship for 4 days the weekend before last.  Then The Bend for 4 days last week and back at SMSP testing this week, a day visit to One Raceway, then the SMSP Day Night meeting the weekend after.  I was hoping to squeeze in a dyno day with Scott on my R32 this week, but that's not going to happen, that's the second time I have had to postpone. Apologies if my responses are slow.   Cheers Gary

    • Ha ha ha, I read that he had it based on brownie points so knew it wasn't going to be sold   I also am only shit stirring on buying, while they'd all be great cars, I don't need more, I actually sold one a few weeks ago. And immediately bought more tools...
    • I thought you might have asked about the Honda, but as the boy just wrote off his Patrol, and was trying to find a cheap daily to get by with, I decided to give the Honda to him
