Recall for 1991-93 Soarer Seat Belts.

At the moment there is a recall on a compliance centre in Brisbane. Will not say what company but hopfuly you did not get your car complied by this guy.

If you have had a Soarer imported under the new system id sugest you ring DOTARS and find out if your car is affected.

the seat belts in my gf's 94 soarer ****s up sometimes

the drivers one sometimes wont come down so u can put it on and the rear drivers side one doesnt move at all

it was imported and complied in 2001 and shes the first owner

u reckon it could have been done by the same guy??

The front passenger seatbelt in my R33 stopped working for 24 hours and then somehow fixed itself. :confused:

im not to sure, but it was never imported under the new RAW. So its not one they are looking for. I belive your seat belts would have been changed to Australian ones. Under the new system they leave them as they USED to meet the ADRS.

i think the recall is for all 91-93 soarers re :belts

not just from 1 workshop in brisbane

ohh crap i dont know if it was from 1 or everyone I was just letting ppl aware so that they can go and gt it looked at. Hate to see some one get stuck over this thats all. I will try find out a bit more and let u know.

you really should have these belts checked...sounds like retractor is not positioned & tightened correctly ....remove the rear seat & quarter trims and have a look

bwaahahaha!! DOTARS screwed up on this one. The seatbelts on 91-93 Soarers do not comply with the relevant ADR (even though they are perfectly safe), however some paper pusher at DOTARS accepted these non-complying belts when the workshop (I know of at least one, however this may be the case accross the board) presented their evidence package.

The workshop did everything right and due to DOTARS' screw up, all these cars have had to be recalled. Word of advice to anyone owning these cars: simply decline the request to have complying seat belts fitted. They can't force you to do it and it will only cost you money.

The same thing happened with a bunch of Delicas and their swiveling (not allowed under ADR's) seats and when DOTARS initiated a recall, if the owner of the vehicle did not wish to make the necessary modifications, there was nothing they could do.

This is off my inspection report for the Soarer we just did, it was nothing to do with DOTR's stuffing up the RAWS should of known to check them 1.1 SVE Doc shows belts as being duel sensitive, vehicle fitted with belts marked "V" (not duel sensitive) Should read VW on belt.

Mainly 91 some 92 Soarers, we are fitting aftermarket belts like used under CPA some people will use 1993 factory belts.

And being a safety issue if you refuse to have the recall fixed by RAW you vehicle regerstration will be cancelled.

Don't they just buy the seat belts or get them modified by Autoliv? That's what a RAW told me about Soarer's belts.

That is corect depends on the RAWS evidence, we are using Autoliv as it will cost less when we comply the cars.
