Just wondering if any1 has taken a fine to court and got off in particular running a red light fine as ive been hit with $150 and 3demerits for apparently going through a red light in which i didnt (youd hav to be stupid to run a red light on riverside drive in peakhour traffic) the only thing i can think of is that i went over the line ?

i havent viewed the photos yet but correct me if im wrong there is 2 photos taken one right after the first and if im still in the second photo i obviously didnt go through

am i still gonna get screwed just for going over a line by a few millimeters?

just wanted 2 see if there is a way out of this bullshit fine but im thinkin im probably stuffed :)

i dont think its the line that sets it off, i thought it was after the line, pressure plate in the ground? , get the photo have a look, when i have a look at multanova pictures they are held in curtin house, well thats where the last one was? , if you ran it and can see in the picture theres not much you can do, if its a bit dodgy or your only a little bit over, absoloutely fight i , it goes to petty sessions, usually the judge looks at the facts and rules without you saying much or anything at all, so yeah , hope the photo is crap :)

The line itself isn't the one that sets it off... It's further up, toward the middle of the intersection. and YES, they take two photo's right after each other, this is used to prove you went THROUGH the light and not stopped on the line...

Good luck either way dude. Let us know how it turns out!

A couple of years ago I stopped at the lights at welshpool rd but just over the line. the camera flashed twice but I hadn't gone thru. I phoned the next morning to explain that I hadn't gone thru' and they said that the second photo would prove if I had kept going. She said that if I was still in the same spot (even though just over the line) I wouldn't get fined. Well I never received a notice so that was a relief.

The pressure plate must be at the line because I stopped maybe a foot (300mm) over the line.

Well i've been in the same situation and i can say its the line that sets it off.

Its different in different areas though, you can see how they've chopped into that section, they take alot out of the ground to put all the wires and stuff in.

Yeah i didn't get off mine at Innaloo and mine was at like 11pm on a Monday night, i bascially stopped right on the line.

Oh there was something i tried to fight with, it was that the 2 lights are an indicator at how fast you are driving, they measure the distance between the first and second flash to determine distance.

As i stopped right on the line i wasn't going anyway, technically not moving but they said that i triggered the alarm because i was on the line and that is a very late stop, i would have failed my drivers test if i did it etc etc, not going to listen to you the fine stands.

But you may get luckier than i was.

The second light is to confirm if you did in fact go thru' as the shiela told me when I phoned up about it. It's got stuff all to do with measuring speed. To measure speed in a front or rear shot would require markings on the road to determine the exact position of the vehicle in both shots. Side shots would be easier.

The lines are a guide as to where to stop and the fact that a person has gone just over rather than proceed thru the intersection would show a court or anyone in authority that the person took the correct action to stop. Judgement differs from person to person in regard to the amber light and the duration of the amber light can differ in different locations as well.

The shiela I spoke to said that whether an inch or a foot over the line would not constitute going thru an intersection on a red light. The second photo will prove if the person hasn't stopped. I didn't get fined and anyone who has, has been conned. They should have fought it.

If they have come up with a separate infringement for stopping past the line rather than b/4 the line at traffic lights, then I guess you couldn't do much about it other than calling them a bunch of pricks.

If I remember correctly, a copper could fine you for stopping past the line at a stop sign. That is a different situation than at traffic lights, because at a stop sign you must stop regardless, so judgement is not a factor.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
