What not to do when your RB25DET gets rebuilt!!!

Recommended Posts

Fair enough, info noted :D

Still though, i would be suspicious if me newly built engine blew up with forged internals without even revving over 5000rpm. As much as a computer could stuff things up, didnt you notice it detonating?

hmm after just ripping down my 25 not that long ago that screams fuel pump/system to me.

I was driving my car around for about 3 years with a autronic SMC getting experiance tuning the thing (read: screwing with the fuel/ignition maps :D ) finding out what works what didn't etc without a a/f ratio meter (yes yes i know exactly how stupid it was and it did end up costing me a engine) and my stock pistons didn't even look that bad.

So while a badly tuned ecu can kill a engine i think that looks alot more like a major lack of fuel not just a little to much timing (what most jap chips have) for it to kill forged pistons like that without any real abuse.
