to bring it up again i disagree with the fact this guy in the 33 was trying to start anything

from what i heard the s14 did something stupid and wheather he apologised or not the 33 driver was either worried about his well being or the safety of oncoming cars

he didnt say non members should **** off, he said if people are going to drive like ****wits they can **** off off the cruise there is a difference

open to debate

plus i agree i have read and figured that all SAU cruises are very law abiding but i saw a LOT of cars speeding WELL in excess of the limits, i admit i did it myself but only after every single one of them had overtaken me and when we started off again after the halfway house i just went with the flow

Ok, seems we found a few issues. Unfortunatly one post made by Randel was deleted. I thought that it was a great post.

The points are that someone stuffed up, someone had a go at them, This issue would have better been resolved by speaking to myself, and you all knew who I was as every one was looking at me during the briefing. We need to remember that we all know each other and we need to cooperate.

The other points are that when issues are raised we need to make sure we handle them properly. I feel that this is a club issue and should have been brought to the attention of the club.

It all seems to have been resolved now which is good, and we also have some suggestions to take on board for next cruise.

Thanks for all the feed back guys.

OK finally got my pics uploaded, here they are:

Appologies for the 30 blurred pics in a row, thats what you get when you grab the wrong setting on those super cameras :(

LOL!!!!! you didn't tell me i was meant to remind you!! Plus i figured, me putting your windscreen wipers up would have made you think of me, resulting in a call... but i didn't get that! so don't blame me for not reminding you!! snob!

hi all.. i'm a silvia owner on ns.com but i was on the cruise as a passenger in the colourful s14..

i know we were guests on this cruise being nonmembers..regarding the issue during that bend, all i can say is that he went into a lil too fast and understeered into the the opposite lane.. to my memory there were no public cars around thuogh that does not excuse him.. however i can assure it was a big mistake on his part and he is extremely sorry..

he was actually pretty freaked out when the mystery r33 driver went off on him on the radio.. i'll be honest and say that his tone was quite strong to me though the swearing was not necessary.. it was because of this, i was the one who apologised for him over the radio (he himself apologised once again in person when we reached singleton)..

from what i gather, the driver had never been on a cruise at speeds like this.. it was quite an experience for him also being on his green p's.. often at times, we were left far far behind.. trying to keep up, speeds were increased.. i don't know what u guys want to hear.. but we're all really sorry about the mistake.. i hope it has not hurt sau's reputation or face in anyway and that we have all learn something from this.. (i certainly have)

but thanks alot for a great cruise! it was actually really fun and better than most other cruises i've been on.. (though this is my first with sau)

finally.. im probably not in any position to say this but i think maybe the forum admins or organisers on the cruise should consider as an idea of having an extra talk to ALL the non members who are driving (like after the big talk at maccas) on future cruises to tell them, in a sense of what to expect, speeds, overtaking, being left behind etc..

Just leave this bit out mate. You can't complain about keeping up and high speed cruising when you're not last in the line of cars and the issue at point is that of an overtaking manoeuvre up the line. Who were you trying to keep up with? The people behind you?

The speed of the cruise is another issue entirely.

LOL!!! good point! but just remember that even if you're in the middle of the pack, it can be intimidating if you're not keeping up with whose in front, and you have the person behind tailing you pressuring you to go faster...

By high speed cruise you mean one on a twisty road that has High Speed limits I assume?

Guys, I think that the issue with the s14 has been pretty much done to death. The driver is sorry and the mystery R33 driver seems to be over it or he would have posted I would assume.

I will in future make sure that I point out that this is a Cruise where the speed limit is quite high even when there are suggested speed corners of as low as 30kms/h, and to take your time, we will wait for you at the next stop which is not more than 90 odd kms along the same road!

It will also be noted that if another car is overtaking that could those happy to cruise along just make a space, as mona did, and let them back in easily, this way there should be no problems with getting back into the line when the driver chooses to.

To all those that have offered thanks, thanks... was heaps of fun and I look forward to doing it all again with you next year. :D

You're right Moanie but... KEEPING UP AND OVERTAKING ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

My first time for CAPS LOCK!  he he.

*cry* no need to yell at me!!! sooo mean!!! :D

hehe :D Thats a good point though! he was overtaking at the time... so that kinda kills some of the arguments...

often.. we saw nobody in front of us for ages.. it was only at teh start of the cruise he overtook heaps.. i'm not trying to excuse all of his errors.. he after all was the driver anyway..

but he jus kept up the high pace in order to catch up to the front cars when he shouldn't have ie through the corners.. i don't think thats hard to understand

yes, that one! cause it was an ACCIDENT that he gone into the corner too fast on the wrong side of the road, he should of gone in infront of me instead he gone for one more car infront of me then realises that the corner is just there. so he needed to merge right into the left side of the road. This is better than proceeding the corner on the WRONG side of the road! He did indicate and avoided an accident with the car he pissed off! I really didn't see the silver r33 gave him the space to move in!

This is what I'm referring to. Are you saying now that he wasn't overtaking?

c'mon guys let this one rest. there was an incident, the driver regrets it, no need to discuss it further.

no-one was hurt and nothing was damaged.

lets all remember we had a great day out

Thanks to the drivers with faster cars than mine for being patient with my lack of speed especially going up the hills.

The one thing I dont miss about my previous skyline was the fuel economy. The Seat has done over 500km on the current tank and still has 1/4 tank left... I wasn't sparing the horses either on our little trip.

the yellow skyline was full going for it... some people behave, some don't, i don't understand why SAU is the way it is by the way you are putting it! and we were 100% in it for a sensible cruise. were you?

Can you please tell me where it was that i was supposedly going for it???? I have just read this post and would love for u to point out what I was doing that was anything near as dangerous as trying to pass a car whilst coming into a blind corner.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
