This was the bad boy I got off of Noel. I have found another and it is on its way from Japan.

Got my car back from the smash repairers. Like most insurance jobs. Dodgy.

No power to headlight. Coolant leak. Over charged me. Stuff missing. Paint chips. Over spray last but not least. A miss aligned headlight, and they just masked it with spacers.post-108324-14410185130718_thumb.jpg

And the headlight was mounted by one bolt. The ones in the headlight panel. Drilled through

So I got the studs from kudos a few days ago and ripped it apart on Wednesday. 2 studs were broken and missing and 3 more were broken but still sitting in. post-108324-14425872833866_thumb.jpg

When undoing the turbo the only thing holding it on was the locking tabs. The nuts all came off by hand. No snapper needed to even crack them!

So I tried to get them out Thursday wit no luck. So called threadtech and this morning Craig came and got them all out in about 10 minuets. Money well spent!

So this afternoon after work I got stuck in and got it all done. New studs. New turbo new exhaust, gave it a service and new Coolant. Finally last new cam cover gaskets (been needing them for about 6 months)

Finally locked the door at 12.30 and said I need to get off my feet since being on them since 8am the morning before

The car is at work cooling down and I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow

Had one little hiccup. New washers for the oil feed on the turbo were leaking so I grabbed the old ones. Gave them a clean up on the wire buff and stuck them in. Worked perfect and no more leak!

Had some more fab work done and had a new intercooler pipe done up and intake pipe and intake box

Having some issues with a flat spot since the new turbo I am pretty sure it is cool packs breaking down as I have had a set do that before. After the pipe work it was three times worse so took the boost bleeder off so I'm only running stock boost. It has settled down a little but is still there

So I have a new set of coil packs on order :)post-108324-14455931204879_thumb.jpg

So bit of drama the other day. Serviced my car and noticed an oil leak from the new turbo post-108324-14645180265163_thumb.jpg

Called gcg on Friday and they said yeah they will warrant it so take it out and send it back

Pulled it out Friday night and noticed this crap https://youtu.be/b7WaoPU_L3k

So I will speak to them Monday morning about it and see what to do

I have been on a bit of a parts hoarding stage

I now have all the fitings, hoses and major parts needed to finish my car

Got some raceworks 1150cc e85 injectors, continental flex sensor, buying a injector sub loom so I can put plugs on it instead of using adapters getting the walbro pump next Wednesday

So nearly there

After sorting out this turbo issue I will see how that goes and then get some money together for tune!!!

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
