Recently fitted my RB20DET into a R32 Sedan (read 4 door) mated to a RB20 gearbox and RB20DET tailshaft to the standard differential.

No issue's with it going in, just noticed that there is a 2cm gap. I'm aware that it's missing the dust cover and perhaps this is why it looks so wrong.

Any ideas?

Looks ok or not?

Also looking for a dust cover to buy.

Ta!

I notice the shaft has rust on it.

Im assuming you cleaned the rest off on the part that went in.

If you didnt it will tear the seal on the gearbox.

If you want to know who far in it should go, take it out and check the witness mark on it where it rubbed on the oil seal before, should be making contact at the same point or close to it.

As above, that's fine. It's a slip yolk.

Try Taark, or just anyone wrecking a car. Wreckers should have a bunch hanging around too, if you're talking about the dust cover which sits at the end of the gearbox and covers the front uni joint, SR20, CA18, RB20 etc are all the same.

This is the "dust cover" that i'm talking about.. SR and CA are the same?

Taark has SR20 ones in stock but when i emailed asking he said he would have to order for RB20 and would take 4 weeks..

My tailshaft sits out about that far as well. Will it be okay to clutch kick 3rd with it like that. Last thing i want to do is break the spline on the gearbox output shaft.

you'll strip the teeth in 3rd gear well before you destroy that output shaft

I can measure for you properly tomorrow but 99.99% sure CA/SR/RB20/RB30/RB25DE etc are all the same. Only GTR, RB25DET, Z32 etc would be different.

That would be fantastic thanks mate! If so it will be heaps quicker for me to get my hands on one.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
