So I bought a nismo fuel pump for my r34 gtt pretty straight forward installation as its a direct replacement pump. Put everything back together went to start the car and wait for it nothing. Can hear the pump priming but the engine isn't ticking over at all.

Any ideas? Nothing is leaking pump is priming so why isn't it starting?

Going to have another looking in the morning so hopefully i can work it out.

Thanks

yep 3 lines

1xcircle shaped line = black
1xelbow shaped line = orange
1xeblbow shaped line = yellow

joined them all back correctly

back to black
orange to orange
yellow to yellow

so can't see how that is wrong hmmmmm?

yep was running fine before this and yes all i did was the fuel pump. By not ticking over i mean it doesn't even attempt to start nothing.

I have a nistune but surly this wouldn't effect it to the point of the car not turning on

Did you prime the system lots before turning on? If some of the fuel has drained out of the injectors then they sometimes take a bit to get started. Key on and off a fair few times is the easiest way to do it. Key on, let it prime, key off, repeat

Also change your fuel filter in case the new pump has stirred up some crap thats got through the sock (not likely but id change the fuel filter anyway)

If the car won't start:

1) Check battery voltage, you need at least 10.5v while key on start (yes actually turn it to START, even though you think nothing is happening, what could actually be happening is there isn't enough voltage to bring the solenoid in to engage the starter)
2) check fuses

3) check start relay (30 needs power, 85 and 86 need to energize a coil, so a test light between them with the key on start should light it up)

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
