Hey Guys

Now this isn't a sell my car thread but just looking for a bit of advice. I've recently moved to the UK due to my partners family reasons and I have had to unfortunately put my car up for sale :( Was thinking about transporting it over but the costs of doing that and the prices of cars here won't make much sense doing it.

So I'm a complete Numpty in selling a car privately as I have never done it before and I have had my ad up on car sales for a week and half now and I have not had one person contact me. I've got it up for $12,500 which I thought was a fair price considering the condition my beloved V35 is in but i guess not

here is the ad I put up

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-2004/SSE-AD-3101714/?Cr=16&sdmvc=1

So any advice on what I should be selling it for? I'm in no rush to sell, it's currently sitting in my parents massive garage with no finance owing but I'm wanting a few people to be interested in it

I think the price is quite reasonable. it's just not a good time to sell, lots of cars for sale and not as many buyers, especially for 'niche' cars like these. Some have had to wait months for a buyer to come along. The reduction in the value of the Yen is also making it very cheap to import one of these.. which isn't helping local sales either.

Yeah, be prepared for a selling period of around 6 months. Even when I sold my R34 and S15 previously it took a LOOOOOOONG time. As awesome as these cars are, the market is flooded and people generally don't know what the heck they are, even after all these years.

Leave the price as is, it's very fair.

It's a popular colour and a great car... the only two aspects that may put off a buyer is the level of trim (eg: non-Premium pack) and those rear park sensors.

Even so, it's priced well and looks mint :)

Do you plan to renew the rego when it expires? It is highly unlikely that you can sell it before Dec 2014... And people will have a lot less incentives to buy an unregistered car.

Also your Carsales ad said the car is regularly serviced in North Sydney Nissan, but the car has a QLD plate and your location is QLD as well. Would that be a typo?

Other than that the car looks great - a reasonably price for 80k genuine mileage and decent condition.

It's good that you're not in a rush to sell, as many people have commented that the market has taken a hit.

$13K seemed like a fair price when I was looking 12 months ago. You may have to price yours a bit less as it's non-premium, non-colour matched parking sensors, 17" wheels, etc.

Hopefully you get a decent price!

Great thank you for the advice fella's :)

I'm from Queensland and bought the car in Queensland but lived in Sydney for a year and didn't bother changing the rego, I had a strange inkling I was going to move again ha!

Im definitely going to pay another 6 months on rego as by the sounds of it my dad is having fun with it on the weekends. Will keep price as is.

haha I didn't really notice the parking sensors but you guys are probably right, not much I can do about it now though as I'm already in the UK.

Have had 5 people save it as their favourite on car sales so I guess thats a start. Still gutted I'm selling though it's like giving up the family dog.

Have you thought of putting this on Fleebay ? I'm not sure of the cost , it's % of sale thing and it ain't much , used to be a place for crappy not worth the listing price beaters but since carsales got cheeky with their prices and the pic link sizes are shit fleebay has some surprisingly good vehicles on the site.

Just a thought--- :)

If you've still got it late Dec I'd be a goer for it and the Qld reg would suite me just fine as that's where I'm stuck for the foreseeable future :turned:

    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?

    • BRUH, one of the biggest mistakes of my life..... and i've had plenty ;[)
    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.
