hello there ladies and gentlemen, im new here, I have a few questions for you guy's/girl's. does the rb20 cylinder head bolt onto the rb26? The story is im doing up an a 1965 xp ford falcon and instead going the v8 route I would like something different, like putting in a turbo rb26. The way the rules and regulations are I can either put a non forced induction engine upto 5 litre or go forced induction upto 3 litres. So any advice an help on what to look out for on the rb series engines would be fantastic thank you

Well to be honest I don't know if they will fit - probably with a bit of work but its one of those why bother things.

Not sure that many people would have ever tried but RB25/20's & 25/30's exist so you would think you could get a 20 head to fit on a 26 if you really tried.

But:

The Rb26 head is a pretty good thing and given that most RB26's fail in the bottom end I would recommend you go looking for an Rb26 head.

As for the flow thing, no.

The car a 2 or 4 door?

4 door xp sedan, thank you djr81 for your reply. the aim is have something different with reliable horse power, and drivable , few of the ford falcon boys are a bit upset, reckoning im ruining a classic car and ricing it up but ive nothing but good things about the rb series engines that they make good reliable horse power, the power im chasing is around the 350 to 400 mark the car doesn't weigh that much so it would be a fun car to drive around

Yeah can understand why. Wouldnt an XR6 motor out of, say, an EB be better?

Honestly having owned too many GTR's and RB26's they really aren't as brilliant as people make them out to be. I don't know that I would recommend one for a conversion. Not least for the reason that (From memory) the exhaust is on the wrong side for a Falcon.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
