GSX-R35
My R32 currently has an HKS intake kit but I kind of like the look of the OEM pipe that has the "Twin Turbo" logo on it. Right now my engine bay looks like this: I was planning on sprucing it up in the future once I get the car resprayed by replacing the previous owner's blue color scheme with black together with some CF and silver pieces for contrast. So I was thinking of taking off the HKS piping and having it powdercoated in black later on. On the other hand I've seen pics of cars with the stock piping and an Apexi intake setup and kind of like the look of it - like in this pic: I'm pretty settled on my future engine dress-up plan - black cam covers, CF coil and timing belt covers, Cusco ALC CF/aluminum strut bar, replace the cheap-looking catch can hoses with braided lines, replace the blue radiator with a new Koyorad (already being done as we speak), and replace the blue intake manifold with a Nismo one. The part I'm waffling on is the intake piping. I think powdercoating the HKS pipes I have in black would look really spiffy but at the same time I like the look of that proud "Twin Turbo" badge the OEM pipe has. Yeah I know that's a shallow reason to like it (it's really just the badge I like since it clearly shows the fact the engine is turboed - people ask me whether it is or not all the time lol) and I'd probably be going backward to do it but I had to at least entertain the option. I know I'd have to source the OEM piping from somwhere (not so easy here in the US) and I'm not even sure yet how many parts that would entail so it sounds like more trouble than it's really worth. What do you guys think, am I stupid for even debatiing this lol? Maybe I should just see how to stick a "Twin Turbo" badge on the powdercoated HKS piping lol? Anfanee
if you like the OEM kit ask someone to swap for a hardpipe Kit+the standard intake kit? that way you get rid of the rubber hoses but keep the standard "twin turbo" pipe Edit: OR just sell the HKS pipe kit and buy a hardpipe kit w/e Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457355-how-hard-would-it-be-to-go-back-to-oem-intake-piping-engine-bay-cleanup/#findComment-7548040 Share on other sites

That engine bay pic you showed is a better representation of what I'd like my intake setuo to look like actually. Since my car came with the HKS kit already intalled I have little idea how many pieces were removed in the process though. I tried looking at parts diagrams on JP Carparts to see what was needed but the diagrams seem completely different from what I expected to see. Maybe I'm just too mechanically inept to suss them out lol. I'd probably have to buy the parts and resell my HKS kit later since R32s are still rare here in the US so finding a swap candidate won't be easy. I know where to get a different aftermarket intake kit but the OEM bits are what I'm finding hard to get a handle on. Anfanee
Find someone here in Aust to post some to you. They go for like $40 for the intake pipes. It's literally the twin turbo pipe and the one behind it. The above pic is actually 2 different kits put into one. It's the HKS suction and the HKS intercooler kits. If you can get your hands on the HKS suction kit (now discontinued i believe) it should be pretty simple to do the swap Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457355-how-hard-would-it-be-to-go-back-to-oem-intake-piping-engine-bay-cleanup/#findComment-7548074 Share on other sites

So from what you're saying it sounds like there's only two major OEM pieces I need to source and the rest can be aftermarket. Time to do some googling then Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457355-how-hard-would-it-be-to-go-back-to-oem-intake-piping-engine-bay-cleanup/#findComment-7548419 Share on other sites
