Hey guys, I've been away from the scene for a while and have recently got my self a C34 S2 Stagea RWD. It's coming up to it's 100k service so I would just like to know which sponsors are the cheapest/best for the following bits, I assume they do package deals?

  • Timing Belt & Water Pump Kit (Genuine Nissan Cam Seals, Genuine Nissan belt
  • Genuine Nissan R34 water pump
  • Genuine Nissan Timing Belt Stud Kit
  • Genuine Nissan Cam Cover Gasket Set
  • Genuine Nissan Ancillary Drive Belt Set
  • 1 tube of gasket maker stuff

I already have oil and oil filter, is there anything else I should be getting?

At the same time I'll also be doing a manual conversion from a R33 GTSt, I bought an Exedy clutch about 10 years ago that's never seen the road so I'll be using that, but the thrust bearing seemed to be noisy when it was fitted to my old car years ago. Can any of the older members (not long after SAU started), recall there being an issue with the Exedy clutches back then? I seem to recall it was a common issue and the fix was to get a standard OEM Nissan one. The part number of the clutch plate is NSD098U,

Edit The clutch it's self is silver and I thought that all Exedy clutches were pink?? The only part number stamped onto it is 2M05 which I can't find anywhere, so thought it might be an OEM one, will this clutch plate suit a standard OEM clutch? Confirmed mine was the non HD version which has the silver pressure plate.

Cheers,

Gareth.

Thanks for the heads up GH05T, I found an old post saying Kudos does kits, but couldn't find them in the classifieds, any chance you could send me a link?

Ben, I'll be doing the RMS as I have a slight leak, forgot to mention that in my post, but didn't know about the crank seal.

Cheers!

Edit, found Kudos! Ignore that :)

    • Interesting. I still think they are the result of impact damage somewhere along the line, but clearly lightning has stuck thrice! I've still got the original ones on my race car and they have had some hard work.
    • Just had this happen to me too.  R32 GTR.   Also broke "just before going out onto the track" - someone up there is looking out for us... Very scary since I was about to do a narrow street course with zero run-off and curbs everywhere. Many people on here upgrading to billet uprights and R35 bearings?   Or buying new OEM knuckles?  I am not keen to replace with another s/h 30 year old fatigued part.
    • Top off with distilled water and see what happens. If you keep losing coolant then you know to start looking.
    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
