Nulon Nationals Round 4 - 26th September - Final Drag Battle!

Lol I have a wrx I'm ok with that! Since this year changed from just make/model based clubs to driving clubs, I think there's an arguement that performanceforums.com could field a competitive team.

Interesting thought about paid spots, I reckon it would take the driver's championship away from the clubs a bit, but if it supplements the event and makes it succeed I'm all for it!

Yeah this is something we are looking at..i have a wrx club that are interested in joining next year. their application said something about Skylines being nuggets and they wanted to prove that" i think i might have to give them a spot.

i am also toying with the idea of opening a limited number of spots up to general members of the public. This means that people can purchase series entries at a good price and drive in all 4 rounds not linked to a club, but going for a drivers championship.

thoughts?

Would there be a screening process involved or a first come first served thing?

you might hit some backlash if say a pro driver entered his race car and blew everyone away in each of the rounds due to better equipment/budget. But thats a long shot but there would be similar situations that could arise.

unless there was a club and paid entrant championship? could make prizes a bit of a hassle though

food for thought

You mean like SAU did at wakefield last year? (Powertune R34 driven by John Boston) Or Evo Oz did at Bulahdelah (Pulse racing Evo driven by Paul Mcckinnon)??

If SAU didnt run the Powertune GTR you wouldnt of won the event. Yet not a single person complained about it. The other clubs said well done and see you next year.

i think you are missing the purpose of this event, it is to get a wide range of cars and drivers together to enjoy a cheap if not free day of racing... If a pro driver brings a 200K car. Great. He gets the biggest trophy. We are not racing for sheep stations, we are racing for fun, i think some people have forgotten that part of it. As soon as people (including me) stop enjoying the event, i will stop running it.

2016 is costing us 30k extra to run Bathurst and SMSP GP. The 30 extra entries we have available might give us 15K (at the most) these entries wont have anything to do with the club point system, They will collect points for the drivers championship though.

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
