my alternator died on the way home. My battery level is at 8.5V and won't click over, even with a jump start.

My mate has a RB30 alternator and I'm wondering if this will fit a RB20DET?

I understand that many Nissan parts are interchangable with each other, I'm just hoping they're the same.

Thanks.

i feel your pain, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago

bolting up wise it should fit, but electrically an R32 probably has a higher current draw than a commy or aus-spec r31. also the probably would have slightly different pulley sizes due to different rpm range of two motors. I ended up putting a RB26 (some differences) one on mine.

comparing the 2 would be the best way to check fitment

sycorb on the forums had one for sale last week from a RB20. he's located out in campbelltown but it could be a better option.

n15 pulsar will fit but you need to mod the tensioner bracket i run a 120 amp n15 pulsar on my gtr its bloody beautiful and around the same price brand new with warranty as second hand jobs i have seen!!!

    • You'd want to cap off the re-entry back into the dump too. Just something flat that can be held on by the Vband.
    • Thanks for the recap Matt Z. It was a great day out and I know you have said it already, but we couldn’t have done it without the volunteers.

    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.
