Im not sure if this is general knowledge or not but I basically searched this site completely for guides to doing a cambelt and what I found was excellent.. I printed off a few and have been using them as guide whilst doing the Cambelt on my R32.. ( Soo much gratefullness to the lads that take there time to throw up guides with photos etc :) )

ANYWAYS.. I was having real trouble actually fitting the cambelt to the engine, lining up all the marks and pulling the thing over the final cam gear was never going to happen.. So I went back and re read B-rice's guide which was a beauty, it basically explains the following,

"Place the belt by gripping about 5mm on the cam gears and the tensioner" I did this with all lines lined up.. And then proceeded to mark up and slip the belt 5mm onto the crank gear, And then finally, the belt VERY EASILY slipped over the idler.

All of the guides I read bar this one said getting the cambelt on WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT by yourself, GOOD NEWS! THIS IS NOT TRUE :)

By following B-rices guide and buying genuine parts its quite straight foward.

Is this general Knowledge or??

I have always done all mine the other way. Over the crank sprocket first then slide it over the cam gears. The trick is to only put a few mm of the belt on as stated. The less of the belt you put on the easier it is but obviously you want to put enough on so that it isn't going to slide off while trying to put it over the cam gears.

It's more about patience and perseverance than anything else :)

On any motor that spins clockwise, yes there are some that don't, the timing belt should be fitted in an anticlockwise direction, starting at the crankshaft. This leaves all the slack on the belt at the tensioner, where you need it.

Then, always be sure to turn the crankshaft two revolutions and recheck the timing marks and belt tension.

Please note though, that the marks on the actual belt won't line up again after turning the motor over. This is due to the relationship of teeth on the cam and crank gears aw they are a hunting gear set. Just be sure that the camshaft and crankshaft makes line up and you're good to go.

    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
    • I use FCC car launcher. It has an option for different backgrounds, so instead of turning the screen off you can swipe 'up' to a black screen with no background/icons. (mine has the time on it only). It's kinda nice. Also lets you use gestures to say swipe to go to next song, etc.
