Guilt-toy... two words for making xbox run a skyline... HKS Camp... lol at around $200 secondhand its a lot cheaper than making an XBox dsplay your ECU readouts. And it stores data from the last 20 trips in flash memory too which can be downloaded to you PC via a serial interface.

don't ask me how or where to get it as I won't help you.

Sorry, I thought this clearly spelt out how much your attitude regarding assisting other SAU members. Obviously I can't read for shit, and mis-interpret engrish.

If that's what I get for tryin to help you guys out then I'll just keep shit to myself next time.

Help? I thought you just said you won't help... Mental note, I gotta lay off the crack..

Does anyone know where to get the Power FC laptop software from??

I would make tuning a heap easier, but I cant seem to find it!!

I hope this answers your question:

Specifically:

You will require software and patch leads to create a .DAT or .LOG file from your vehicles ECU. The software you require is dependant on the brand of computer you are running. The FC series of replacement computer from Apexi (ie: PowerFC) require the program FC-Datalogit, available from FC-Datalogit. Autronic requires the factory supplied software for the model of Autronic computer you are running. Currently no stock ECU support any form of .DAT or .LOG file retrieval. For specific enquiries about software to suit your computer, contact Autotech)

Good luck getting a HKS CAMP to run your Skyline... You need a PowerFC for that :D

difference between runnung a car and displaying ECU readouts ;) As advanced as an XBox is, i doubt it'd be as effective as a deidicated ARM processor like in the ECU's (I think). The Xbox might be a bit too latent to do the functions of an ECU and still function as a media centre. (seriously doubt the bus on the xbox can handle the car's system and maintain a graphical output at the same time.

Doughboy, maybe my first quote should have read "don't PM me asking how or where to get it", does that make you feel better now? I really don't like playin games with the moral police, so drop the matter, please?

don't you still need to put in some decent time on the dyno to tune it properly through the rev band? I wonder how many places there are that you can go to and say, I need to use your dyno but I don't want a tune, and they'll give you a discounted dyno rate.

Still trying to get him to make a program for an XBOX or PC that can run my skyline...

Funky... I don't write the questions. ;) I just answer them how I see them.

Dunno where you came up with this displaying data mumbo jumbo :D

Road tuning is better then dyno tuning

hehe goji, i assumed he meant use it to display the ecu readouts as replacing an ECU with an XBox is well... pretty radical.

Enrico, that's true, you'd need to find a nice piece of "private" road or shell out for track time though innit?

I don't have a problem with you having software and not wanting to distribute it. I really have no right to a vocal opinion on what anyone does. There's no need to mention it like - as Gojira said - unless you are chasing down attention... now you've got me to post 3 times directed at you, satisified with the reaction? ;)

Going waaaay off topic...

But does anyone make dynos that rather than linearly "ramping" up, change their load realistically to compensate for drag or even to simulate track maps. Or is that still F1 territory?

you mean like a dyno in a wind tunnel? how do you simulate different frictional surfaces on your tyres though?

Doughboy, its cool, I'm not here for attention, and I'm sorry if it came across like that.

Anyways, back on topic :whip:

No, not like a dyno in a wind tunnel... The load at the rollers would be increased to simulate the extra effort required to push the car through the air. You can calculate the drag of the car for a given speed and add that load to that.

I guess you could simulate light wheelspin by decreasing the load, extra grip by increasing it. I know enough about it to know if that would

I mean like if you are going up Mountain Straight (against gravity) you will have much more load than if you are going down Conrod straight. If you set the dyno to change the load based on what would be happening at that point on the track you could tune the car to run properly at that load/rpm.

If you set up a map of the whole track you could simulate a whole lap (braking would obviously be a problem, but it is not really relevant to tuning the engine)

goji, think you just ventured into skylinegeoff territory... he was talkin to e about a similar sort of thing the other day, not exactly for tuning purposes, but more for datalogging.

Hi Gojira I have tuned a car on Mt Panorama in real time with a F&W lambda sensor using the self tune functionality of a Motec. From that personal experience I can tell you that there is absolutely no difference in load points on the fuel or igntion maps between 200 kph going up Mt Straight and 200 kph going down Conrod. The only reason we did on track tuning was to allow for altitude and ambient temperature differences, a 24 Hour Race needs that sort of tuning accuracy .

So all you need is an atmospheric simulating dyno room. ;)

    • Started sifting thru my brakes to decide which ones I will run on Clem   Made me think I should just put them all on Silver...for when brake fade just isn't an option   Should be able to bump rotor up from 343x32 to 348x36 off Supra. Not sure if the Supra annulus is right for the Alcons or APs but trying g to find a used Supra\M4 rotor to test fit The Alcons seem to gain 1-2mm clearance which all helps
    • So car is getting a few mods to the cage and some jacking points welded in Meantime Ol Silver gets a new gearbox and shiny clutch.  Old Box is being set aside for Clem
    • Probably speedometer itself if the odometer is ticking. If the needle is stuck from a bit of grease or something that can cause it to stay at 0. Or a cracked solder joint in the speedometer can do it too.
    • Thanks Fella’s   to take this off topic and to elaborate a bit more. I have an rb25/30 going into a r32 GTST.. expected to make around 600-700hp. Would you?   A) R34 GTT box   B) CD00#?  I’ve seen a few posts about the CD swap and sounds fairly involved with making it fit etc but if it’s worth the work then I’ll go that way
    • Lower at the hubs. Funny I forgot to mention that part. Do this pull here I turned the camera off too soon but the graph shows a drop at the top and that was because the pipe from the turbo blew off. The tuner said we could’ve made possibly another 15 whp. He also added if I switched to ethanol we could up the boost some more as well. I was comfortable capping it at the most of 20 pounds. Turns out the turbo pipe just needed a new worm clamp. Got home replaced that then did a third gear pull from 3k to 7200 rpm and the power was great to the top. I just got an ecu mounting bracket from IEE that I need to try and get everything to fit well. It’s a PITA to get the harness and ecu fit properly behind that kick plate
