All these negative comments I could understand if you were going from an actual sequential gearbox with all the bells and whistes, to a standard box with this kit on it.

Anyone who is only used to the ol' H-pattern on the track is still going to have clutch on accel off muscle memory and an idea of their rev range, unless they are literally retarded.

The benefits I can see are:

  • the shifter location, i.e. closer to the steering wheel for those who aren't sick leb dream boats that drive with one hand on the gearknob at all times for that phallic sensation.
  • reinforces the practice of downshifting through the gears, rather than say from 4 to 2,
  • minimises the memory requirement of the current gear, especially when you're mixing it up, trying 2nd instead of 3rd at a slower corner to keep the revs up for example, and the gearknob is some 10 to 15cm south west of where you thought it was

of course all this still requires the driver to be actively thinking about what they're doing, which to be quite honest, that's literally your one job while driving, is to think about driving.

So for my shitty track car worth <$5k am I going to spend $20+k on a sequential? hell no, $1.5k on a lever? much more likely

Just to add to this, it can also save on the old money shifts that happen.

Eg 5th back to 2nd can no longer happen.

6th back to 3rd cant happen.

And yes, those shifts have occured, and destroyed engines.

I'm sure everyone has also had a mis shift like 2nd to 5th at least once while giving a H pattern some fun.

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
