im just driving a 97 pulsar now but now i have a manual license and no restrictions on the i am seriously considering a line.... (gota love canberra for that at least)

although with the amount of tailgating that goes on in canberra and some of the drivers here, i dont know if i would want to drive around with no insurance as that looks like the biggest problem so far if i go for a line

yeah if you drive defensively, you wont crash, if someone hits you due to tailgaiting then its hello new rear bar and fresh paint!!

i dont have insurance on mine, im only worried about it getting stolen (as most of the guys learnt last night cause i kept checking to make sure it was still there lol) and the only times ive come close to an accident its due to cornering to hard or drifting, and there are never any other cars around when i do.

just expect people to pull out in front of you and do stupid sh*t in canberra and you'll be fine.

its more of the problem if you get some dodgy guy who will stuff you around for the money when the bill comes in.... wheras with insurance you just report it get it fixed and if the guy is dodgy the insurance company takes care of it and you got no probs.... ohhh and i dont have a canberra fetish here but you gotta love how close everything is because even in melbourne I would rack up big petrol costs on my car which is running 9 to 10 litres per 100kms

yeah i like that, but most of us complain about driving accross town (30mins tops) because "its to far" i know cause i do it aswell, whereas in sydney its a short trip lol.

its not a bad little spot here, its suits me, i just hate the weather!!! too cold in winter and to hot in summer.(but i dont mind the heat that much)

Heah everyone, I just moved to Canberra from Melbourne and I was wondering if there were power restrictions for P platers in Canberra??

You've come from Melbourne, Canberra driving is really easy in comparison (sorry, went to melb. recently and found the peak hour driving stressful)

As eneryone else has said, welcome to canberra, hope to see you at the next cruise/event

Yeah, i love Canberra, for everything. The weather, roads, Police, people, size, Everything :P

I'm from Melbourne, but never did any driving there, wasn't old enough. I'd like to go back now and see what it's like.

I do enjoy driving in Sydney occasionally, provides some entertainment, and an adventure

welcome to our boring cold city.

hahaaa that cracked me up...but it's true (sadly)..

atan20, welcome to Canberra, where our "peak hour" is like Melb or Sydney at the slowest time of the day lol

what is is with the tailgating???? I reckon drivers here are just so used to having the road to themselves they can't understand the concept of having cars in front of them holding them up

Put an end to tailgating and slam your brakes on next time it happens! Watch the driver behind you shit themselves as you give 'em the finger and leave 'em in your exhaust fumes as you speed off into the distance.

Or if you do the above, option #2... watch them rear end your car as you slam on your brakes, have to call a tow truck to get home and have no car for a few weeks/months. Then spend time trying to find a decent mechanic that can repair it to be as straight as possible, keeping in mind with a hard enough hit up the back of the car, it will never drive the same again.

Sorry but it shits me to no end when people suggest slamming your brakes on (even momentarily) as its plain stupid, and technically it should be your fault if you cause an accident. Even if the guy was too close behind you, you still caused the accident by slamming your brakes on.

I'm also from Melbourne, moved here back in 2002.

Canberra is best described as "'six suburbs in search of a city" :P (My friends like to joke about it as "glorified Melton" - if you know what I mean) ;) ;)

Coming from Melbourne, my biggest gripes about driving here:

People need to learn to keep left.

The roads aren't good for those with aftermarket suspension.

Watch out for Roo's at night.

Where are the street lights (at some highways)?

Watch out for the fixed red light and speed cameras in several intersections.

Compared to Sydney, yes.

Compared to Melbourne, no.

Driven on Tuggeranong Parkway lately (rated at 100). Compare that road to any Freeway in Melbourne (rated at 100). It's like comparing a loose gravel track to a bitumen road.

canberra roads are a dream, my car has nearly shaken itself apart in sydney!

fair enough. haven't taken the line to melbourne yet.

amen to that nothing pisses me off more than idiots sitting in the right hand lane when the left is clear and its higher than a 60 zone... fair enough if its a go slow area but if we are talking open highways or parkways pfft get out of my way

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
