OKAY.

Anybody in Melbourne who really really needs their guides today, please call me.

I have pulled a favour at the subbies and he's cutting the panels for me right now.

Daz and Matt are coming to pick them up this arvo and if anybody needs one, for circuit racing or Auto Salon, please let me know ASAP so I can bend them up this arvo.

I can wait til next week - no need to bust chops, I am sure my car will survive.

But if its not a hassle I can also pick up this weekend - but its not urgent for me mate :D

Its up to you Pete!

Ok after breaking two ring spanners I managed to get my guide on. Fits very nicely and looks great. Sidchrome tools definitely worth the price as a side note.

Will see what sort of temp improvements I see over the weekend.

Thanks.

I'm glad you like it. I think they all came up quite well.

Especially since I trial fitted every single guide to my car.

Anyway, take a photo for the guys and post it up.

Also, could you please give me a trader rating. Thanks.

And for those with Standard Bars and AFtermarket bars, here's the story.

The subbie who are cutting the bars were going to do them Friday afternoon, but as Friday's go, they didn't end up doing them.

They will be cut early Monday, and I expect to be able to ship them by Tuesday afternoon.

Sorry to Matt who drove all the way out to collect them.

Let you know Monday when they are going to be ready.

NISMO BAR PEOPLE

P.S. I will also be playing around with my nismo guide.

You can see on the guides you have that there is a section which ic cut out but unbent.

This is for later modification to force more air into the intake.

I didn't want to mees around with yours as I have a lot of playing to do with mine before I can finish it. Also, there's a good chanch that when I try to bend mine it will kink somewhere and I didn't want to damage yours.

When I do complete the mods, I will take heaps of photos for you all.

:D

Didn't fit. Well after buggerising around for a bit chopping off two little bits that were stopping the thing fitting on, then accidently cross threading one of the bolts (which stuffed the bracket not the bolt) I went to shut the bonnet and it wouldn't shut. I even tried sitting on it but no go.

It seems my bonnet has some bits on it that yours doesn't Bass. Not sure that I want to pull them off.

Serious?

Can you take some photos of the bit that your bonnet has please?

What little bits were stopping it going on?

I took some photos but haven't had a chance to up load them yet. Will do that tonight when I get home.

It's probably easier if I circle the bits on the photo before I post it tonight.

SHIT. I did't realise that his was a four dorr, but I'm not sure there would be any difference.

Having said that, I do remember a thread about ylwgtr's car and that he had a four door radiator support or something.....

Maybe there is a little difference.

Bugger.

4 door shouldn't be any different from the firewall forward.

see where you have put the foam stuff... I have these rubber flaps that hang down a little bit.

Ah, right.

Maybe they are factory attempts at the same idea??

If there are flaps there, it forces air to be pushed down underneath the radiator support.....

I guess.

does the nissan FAST software show car components... if it does,, it might show all the rubber under the bonnet,,

i don't have any rubber flaps!! and mine is a series II ,, talk about cost cutting bye nissan.. can someone post pics of their bonnet,, i might go to nissan and get some rubber flaps for the bonnet,, just need to know how many there are meant to be, and location,,

atleast i have the bonnet lining,, sheesh!!

Ok here is two pictures. The red circles are where I had to modify. The middle one is because once the guide was on I couldn't get a finger under the latch to open it. The one on the right is not the same as the bit on the far left as it should have been but that's no big deal, I just cut it off with a hacksaw.

The pic of the bonnet is self explanatory really. The rubber flaps are held on with a bit of metal and so when you add the bit of rubber attached to the bonnet to the metal holding it on to the rubber that normally hangs down but can't because of the air guide it's all about 2cm thick.

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
