Ok, I have an R32 GT-R and I just finished purchasing and fitting the following peformance modifications.

HKS 2510's (2)

HKS Super Flow Pod Filters

ARC Intercooler 600x300x76

SARD 750cc Injectors

NISMO Fuel Pump

MALPASSI Fuel Regulator

APEXI Power FC

GREDDY Profec B

Car will run between 22 and 25 psi.

Basically I am aiming for 370 Rear wheel kilowatts, or... 500 horsies at the wheels.

I was going to put Z32 AFM's in as well but they are overpriced brand new... and 2nd hand ones I don't really want at the moment. The GT-R are not that restrictive right?

In the end I want a very responsive street driven car, it also has a double plate Ogura clutch, Tein HA suspension and C's quick shift.

Post your reasons why you think I wont/will make my required goal of 370rwkw.

It will go on dyno next week.

The 25/10s are unlikely to produce your goal of 500 rwhp.

The std afms will run out of resolution well before 500 rwhp. It's not so much a case of restriction, but resolution. The PFC (and any ECU including the original for that matter) uses two 3d maps (one for timing, one for fuel injection). Each map uses load as the y axis as determined by the afm output.

OK, if you run out of resolution for load (ie the afms are beyond maximum resolution) you can only use one load value for both timing and fuel injection beyond this point. This means a compromise in power at best, and engine damage at worst. The cheaper RB25 afms will give you enough headroom for the 25/10s.

Don't get hung up on hp numbers - if you have a good low restrictive exhaust system (you didn't mention what you have) and tune to suit, then you will have a very responsive and quick GTR.

300 rwkw will be achiveable if you want more power and response cams would help alot the rb 20 or 25 afms will do the job the gtr ones will be too small.I have a friend who had an rb 26 built by hks and that only made 330-350 rwkw and it was 2 wheel drive btw also using 2510's the car was tuned in japan so if hks cant get 370 rwkw I doubt you will.

Hi Gimmick,

On what & who's advice where you told the figure of 370kw would be achievable? Unless your from Western Australia then it would sense :).

Here's why you won't...

1) The standard GTR AFM's max out around 280-300kw at the wheels, so you will need Z32 AFM.

2) I have never heard of anyone making that sort of power from 2510

3) 25psi on Pump fuel will blow your motor sooner than later

Finally, Emre made 400kw at the rears on a mix of C16 and Pump fuel with HKS 2530's @25psi with stock internals. But even he will tell you your motor wont last.

Not really knowing the 2510's that well, I think a stock motor is safe around 280-330 at the wheels.

Dont worry about a number, fact is for a street car you will have stupid/scary response and power if you current setup is tuned well.

As others have said, its not a bad idea to grab some cheaper RB20 Afms as they are a larger diam unit and will flow a better then the smaller diam RB26 units. You will be already running HKS filters so should be bolt on and your PFC should have them listed so shouldnt require too much in the way of a retune.

But yeh forget the rwkw number, only use it as a measure of improvement over std figure you measured, any gear anytime is the motto of the 2510s, so even if a dyno doesnt claim you have 370rwkws, it sure will feel like it for a while...

And when your current power simply no longer floats your boat the next few bob i have spare id buy some RB20AFMs, then a new clutch then some cams....and its a std motor i would be staying around 20psi.

I agree with everyone else... You won't make 370rwkw.

But forget about the peak number, that's not what 2510s are made for. They're incredible turbos for street use, with a huge lump of low down torque so you don't have a power curve that looks like someone sat on the bottom half, like a few you'll see running around these parts :)

I don't think the turbos will support 25psi anyway, I'm guessing that they'll run out of puff before then...

Great choice of turbos! Good luck and tell us what you manage to screw out of them!

If using RB20 OR RB25 AFMs on a GTR i think you will find that the RB20s are the pick as they have the same plug as the RB26 AFMs. (can anyone else confirm this, its what a guy said that bought my old RB20 AFMs)

gimmick- you have 3 options in regards to AFM's

1. Buy RB20 AFMs, keep your standard piping and plug (Not sure how much these AFM's are capable of, I'm sure I seen it in a thread somewhere with sydneykid outlining how much power you can gain before maxing out)

2. Buy Z32 AFMs, change your piping to 80mm, and change the plug.

3. Buy Nismo AFMS, keep standard piping and plug, can hold up to 775ps...

I agree with all of the above! 370rwkw on 2510's with pump gas is a joke. etc etc etc etc also 25psi with these turboes is also a joke esp with a std internal engine ......apart from that, don't get obcessed with a hp number like so many people do. with that package you will have a very quick street GTR!

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.  
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
