I have a non turbo R33 gts 95 r33 M spec.

A .Can i put an r33 GTR motor in it , engine mounts, wiring etc with out to much trouble.

B .I live in brisbane aust how much would it cost to import a secondhand reconditioned GTR motor.

C .I can either do the above with gtr bodykit, mags, badges or would it be a better idea to sell my car buy a decent r33 gts-t and attempt to bring it up to 300kw

Thxs opinion appreciated

Sell the thing and buy one that was fitted with a turbo standard.

Why you might ask well:

the na has weaker

diff

suspension

breaks

ect...ect

the cost of upgrading all of the things to a gts-t level would be much much more than the differance of the two cars, therefore if ya want a turbo, buy a car that was built with one (or Two) from factory.

DAMQIK.

Call me a picky bugger, but there's no such thing as a non turbo "M spec". M spec designates the turbo version of the R33 RWD range.

You've made the right choice, selling & starting with a turbo model.

Sounds to me like 33GTS-4 with big brakes fitted. If it is, then you could also consider getting a GTR front cut and swapping in all the bits. This would be the low cost way, but is a lot of work.

If you sell your car and buy a GTR it is going to save a lot of trouble, but cost more. Depends on how you value your time, and if you have the tools, knowledge, and facilities I suppose.

Hippy,

That’s what I call “taking me literally”

CK69,

The range of factory options for the R33 (& other models) is huge! The factory body kit could be selected on the turbo or non-turbo. Pitty they didn’t offer 4WD as an option (except the GT-R). If your R33 has 4WD & isn't a GT-R then it the R33 GTS-4.

i know what you mean! i saw the prices too and i nearly cried... didnt full on cry though... i'm strong

BTW: anyone know how much for 1JZ and 2JZ engine? are they more or less expensive than a GTR motor? coz in terms of build quality, they are about the same.

Add all the bits that you need plus fitting and you'll probably cry.

It is in it's own way a better motor. 2JZ have more and better torque than RB26. Also more reliable cause it's doesn't rev as hard as the RB26.

I assume it would also be expensive.

I reckon the beat bargin motors going around are the RB20's.

The 2JZ-GTE is 3 litres, it has the same 86mm bore as the RB26, but the stroke is 86mm. Sort of like an RB30DET. If the bore is the same in both engines, the valve and port sizes are most probably also the same or very close.

I have no idea what a 2JZ-GTE costs, but I doubt if it would be all that cheap either.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
