i have top speeded all my cars to date here is the list.

toyota corona 1980 wagon - 155kph. (4 cylinder starfire - 4 speed)

toyota corolla hatch 1985 - 165kph. (4 cylinder - five speed)

vl commodore sedan - 195-200kph. (rb30 - auto)

vr commodore sedan - 215kph. (v6 - 5 speed)

r33 skyline gts-t - 190kph - bloody limiter!!!!

the corona and the vl were the scariest and hairiest...

the starfire motor in the corona forever leaked oil from everywhere after this.

Mitsu Colt, 1.6ltr, auto - 160kph (knuckles white on steering wheel but still beat the dude in the gemini) - thanks to mum for loaning me the car for the night.

HZ Kingswood, 3.3ltr, auto - 120kph, flat to the boards and nothing left at all.

VC Commodore, 3.3ltr, 4sp manual, extractors + exhaust - 170kph but sounded more like 300kph.

Datsun 180B, 4sp manual, downdraft webber, extractors + exhaust - never took much notice of speed as too many other things were coming loose. Oh, and speedo cable broken for best part of 2 years.

R33 GTS25t Skyline, FMIC, 3" exhaust, 9psi, 165rwkw - 180-190kph down EC straight on speed cut ( 170 thru turn 1 if tyres haven't gone off )

Z.

Got roughly 125-130kph down straight on Wollongong Kart track :flamed: Had 180kph on *** intercoolor cover blew off!! So backed off and collected the bastard. (Don't litter on freeways-excess of $100.00 fine)

edit:read my warnings on page 2 R31Nismoid

Well if we're talking other cars too, these are the more memorable ones:

VC Commodore, modded 202 + 5 speed: ~220km/h @ 6300rpm on dyno. Could only get around 140 from memory at Morgan Park as the front straight is so short, years ago before track was extended, but it saw a mind-numbing 170 iirc at QR. I took a while to wind up! It didn't like to stop or take corners that much either, but was fun and a good learning tool.

Mate's Subaru Sherpa: Managed to hit 110km/h on the M1 :) Yes, it took bloody ages, but we managed to get 660cc of two-cylinder fury up to the speed limit :D I've heard rumours that some have manaaged 120 and even 130 in these before with one person and unladen, but it was scary enough at 110. Cheap to run though!

Late model auto Laser: 185km/h on unrestricted road (work trip to NT). Took nearly 4 full minutes to get there too. To 185km/h I mean, not NT :D

CBR250R: 195km/h, speed limited but wouldn't have gone much quicker. Darlington Park back straight

Drags: R33 - 170. CBR250 - 150. CBR929RR - 210 :D

226 kmh ( 140.274 mph )at Lake Gairdner speed trials 2003 , in my 1987 station wagon with worked rb30 ( non turbo ). that was the average speed over 1 mile after winding up for 3 miles . was 5th gear at approx 5800 rpm . now have done rb25de head conversion and will take to Lake gairdner again next year .

Some of mine

Datsun 180B - 180km/h with blue and black smoke pouring out the back

Cortina 4.1 liter - 195km/h redline with 4 speed auto with the aerodynamics of a brick.

Hire Cars Up in Far North QLD for work purposes

BA Falcon, New Magna, VX Commowhore, New Camry - all around 200km/h down the same stretch of country road in the middle of nowhere and all felt like they were gonna fly off the road.

R33 - Around 220km/h just coming onto boost in 5th but no road left.

290 in r32 GTR 1.3 bar, private rd. Had to slow down after couple of klms of straight as cane field railway tracks were coming up and i didn't want to launch her. Stable at high speed too, after that one of the turbos shit itself!!

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
