An RB30 SOHC head in a R32/R33 Skyline?!?? :D

Would be more trouble than its worth. -30rwkw from the SOHC head.

Thats roughly what the VL blokes think. The twin cam heads gives another 30rwkw approx. Wider power band, better fuel economy and more power everywhere.

I thought so but just checking.

The chev eagle rod is a small journal chev rod 2 inch big end bore and a 6 inch length the small end needs to be modded...the part number is CRS6000S3D if using an RB26 piston you need something like a CRS6125S3D which really should be a tad shorter....maybe you can use an offset small end bush to get it in the right spot....make sure your measuring tools are spot on for this type of stuff tho!

The big end and small end require modifications, both need to be thinned as they are too wide for the crank journal and the gudgeon pin. They also need to be rebushed to suit and use a 40thou over chev bearing ( which also needs to be thinned ) . The RB30 crank in std journal size then requires a 7 thou grind to make it suit.

The rods then require resizing.

ok rocket part number for scat rods is sc235060002000.... just tell them you want the same rod but in eagle brand...they might be able to help you then....good luck

Just verify the size/application before you order them

Sounds like a lot of money to spend on a road car . I'd have thought the std rods with good bolts and a bit of prep work should be able to take more power than most will have traction for , plus the price is good . I'll ask today if its possible to gas Nitride steel rods . Has anyone use oversized bolts in factory rods ?

SK , when these rods let go which part throws in the towel ?

Cheers A .

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
