I've never felt the HICAS come on, i assume the light comes on when its on.  At what speeds and cornering has it kicked in for you?

Light only comes on when its not working.

hicas only moves at most 1degree if i remember correctly, so you need to be going a descent speed for it to actually have an effect on your driving.

Ive felt it a few times, its not as bad as everyone portrays it to be, but ide still rather it not be there.

Personally ide choose the skyline over any equivelantly priced silvia/200sx/180 or whatever. Yeh stock for stock the s14/200 etc may be a LITTLE faster, but speed isnt everything. The Skyline is a much better all round car. And thats what i look for when buying a car.

Yeah its a tough decision ey?

GTS-Ts drift out pretty well too, thats the only turbo car i have driven. The tail came out when i went around a hair pin and downshifted to first. i was only doing 20km or something, very slow when it happened.

Never driven a 200sx, 180sx, sivlia, etc so i don't know if its going to slide out more (which i don't really want with it being a daily driver of a car). Just gts-ts are so much heavier. Premiums are around the same...

I know I'm going to get owned for asking this question, but what is HICAS on the gts-t? does the 200 not have it? is it similar to attessa?

I was getting quotes from all over the place. This was only 3 or so months ago too. When was the last time you got a quote?

As fresh said, it seems that 200sx's are being crashed more than skyline's by young drivers. So their premiums are therefore higher.

i must be a year behind the insurance trends.

it doesnt make sense that so many companies would insure the 200sx and that all would be expensive. and i cant understand how they are more expensive than skylines. especially 2k more!

insurance companies are worse than the government! KUNTS!

alright i take it back about the insurance on s14 comments. just spoke to a friend that works at aami and he said that insurance on a s14 is a few hundy more than on his wrx. but the exesses are about half the price. i think its the excesses that are the killer. especially when you pay pst excess, then theft excess, then age excess (as an example) it can add up to more than the cost of the insurance.

Between the S14 and 33. Go the S14 and the reason has already been stated by other people here, also like some other people already mentioned.. If this is your first car, then a turbo may not be ideal as accidents do happen but the choice is yours. :)

PS. I have test driven an s14, s15 (JSpec), r33 GTST(mod and unmod), r34 GTT (mod and unmod) and ended up with a 34 GTT. There is a big diference between s14 and s15 Jspec in terms of power and the feel of the car.. :) R33 just feels heavy compare to S14 or S15, or mayb its just me..

Good Luck to ya. :)

This will be my second car. I've driven turbo powered before and have noticed the diff between a lantra and a '33 lol. The s14 200 I think works out more practical in terms of daily driving. Its just the looks factor thats a downside. That and insurance.

***********

I think Im going to have to go the skyline. I can't resist it, the engine has the most relaxing sound. Insurance isn't much different. I've been raised with that car when I was 16 through to now (cousins).

Performance, its the quickest of the two and handling i guess would be around the same.

What do you guys think? the rb25 just as reliable as the sr20?

200`s are sic, but skylines are "SKYLINES" if you knw what i mean.......drive the legend bro:)

Yeah I driven the legend before (the 'line of course), I have to say it rules, never driven a 200. The RB series engines sound so awesome to that of an SR20

What is everyone's premiums like who own skylines here?

how can you compare the 2 cars if you haven't driven both?

and how can you think about buying a car just because it sounds good..

that's just odd to me.

I went from my R32 to my S14.

I've never really liked R33's due to them just being too chunky for my liking.

The RB25 is a great enigne, there is no doubt about that..

But I wouldn't change my S14 for any gtst...

It does everything I want it to. it's light, it's quick, it's comfortable, it looks decent, and everything works, all the time.

I just don't think that you should be saying the skyline is better and then say, "but I haven't driven a 200"

Some people don't like the sound of an SR20 and they are usually skyline owners, and fair enough cause the rb's sound really nice..

but this is no reason to buy a car.

Like everyone else said.. Drive both.

I was looking for an s14 series 2 when i found my gts-t series 2. I was sold after test driving the R33... it had what i liked in comparison to the s14.

Drive both. See which one you prefer.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
