Australians 'kidnapped' in Iraq

Two Australians and two East Asians have been kidnapped in Iraq, said a statement purportedly from the Islamic Secret Army handed out in the Sunni Muslim insurgent bastion of Samarra on Monday.

The statement gave Canberra a 24-hour deadline to end its interests in Iraq or see the hostages executed, but there was no immediate confirmation of the ultimatum's authenticity.

"One of our brave brigades ambushed civilian cars belonging to the American army on the motorway from Baghdad to (the main northern city of) Mosul," said the statement dated today.

"It took four prisoners, two Australians and two East Asian nationals who were working as security contractors for important people," it said.

"We tell the infidels of Australia that they have 24 hours to leave Iraq or the two Australians will be killed without a second chance."

no wonder  why saddam was so ruthless

they should put him back in power and take their freedom away.

So you are saying the entire country deserves the same punishment a small group of extremists does???

Sorry, but that was a very stupid comment!!!

I have friends from Iraq, tha told me of the horrible lives they led there, people more gentle than you and I, and you say that these people need to be governed by tyrant such as Suddam?

People here are becoming as bad as Americans! I am suprised how many people know absolutely nothing about any other part of the world, except the one they live in.....

Attached is an example of the perception the U.S. people have on the rest of the world... We might need another one done here...

Acording to the australian embassy every registered australian has been accounted for in iraq.

This means the possiblity that this 'kidnap' was a hoax is looking quite likley.

While it is not certain it was a hoax because it is possible that the australians didnt register with the embassy.

I'm starting to suspect a hoax

hmmm... I hate to say it for anyone captured regardless of race or religon but if you swim with sharks, expect to be bitten. These thugs thrive on this sort of publicity giving them everything thing they want.. "Any New Goverment that supports them" Look at spain, and unfortunately possibly Australia. (Can you tell I vote Liberal? :D )

You beat bullies by standing up to them! Saddam was good for one thing only...Controlling the wannabees.

Possible conspiracy theories - Fahrenheit 911 anyone? The government is more powerful then you think and willing to take more risks then you think.

Just before a federal election, make some ploy where Iraqis capture some Australians, John Howard magically negotiates and the hostages are freed. John Howard becomes a good man in the peoples eyes.

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
