anyone played this game?? i stumbled upon it when i was hiring some games the other day. I was very suprised, i quite enjoyed it. Im really suprised that the developers havent been sued considering the amount of cars they have used without permission.

For those of you who dont know the game, basically its like a cross between gran turismo and nfsu i guess. You start with 15 grand, and buy a car. They have basically every japanese sports car you can think of, as well as some american cars. You then proceed to modify it with money you earn. The game is set on the highways of tokyo, such as wangan etc. You drive around and look for rivals and race them for prize money and thats the game in a brief overview. For those of you who have played it (if anyone) what do you think of it??

personally I had a great time playing the game.. there's a sequel coming out soon (may be out overseas already?) but understandably it doesnt even have half the cars available..

for an idea of just how many cars are in this game....

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/f..._2_car_list.txt

can't go wrong with a tricked up autech stagea ;-)

but yeah, mad game.. piles and piles of options for modifications..

the driving engine isn't the best.. not very realistic and the graphics are nowhere near up to date.. but its still a lot of fun..

and seriously, don't expect it to be short.. this game is stupidly long.. mostly because of the 'conditions' you have to meet to race certain people

At the moment im using an r34 gtr. typical i know, but i couldnt go past it, lol.

yeah the driving engine in my opinion is very very sub standard, which is the one and only point that holds it back from being a truly awesome game. Ive read some of the guides and stuff for it on the net, its a bloody long game. Ive been playing for ages and havent even scratched the surface yet, haha.

its a pretty old game. a neighbor of mine got a ps2 when it first came out ("only $799!") and he had xtreme racer. ive been meaning to get it, but i keep forgetting. twas a fun game, and even though i havent played it for years, i still rekon its better than the good old ricer NFSU.

Tokyo Extreme Racing Zero was a great game.... played it for hours and hours... cant go past the speed kings car though :D

The newer version is Tokyo Extreme Racing 3..... I have just finished playing that... Took me a few weeks to complete putting in several hours a day.... If you liked Tokyo Extreme Racnig Zero you should defianately get Tokyo Extreme Racing 3.... Its more of the same but better graphics and a few extra bits and pieces... :D

how long has that game been out in AUS? it's been out here for nearly a year now..i bought a copy last holiday season and it was the best 30dollar game i ever bought new =D

have fun playing it man, it gets frustratingly hard later on in the game.

wait until you meet up with Manabu Orido in his MKIV Supra in Osaka.

It isnt out in Australia...Its the American version ( NSTC-U ) which I got brought into the country.... I dont ever think it will be released as an Australian version unfortunately.....

I have basically completed it... except a few wanderers I havent gottne around to doing..... Yeah some of those supras later in the game are damn fast..... If they get past you, you lose :)

oh, that sucks that you guys didn't get a local version.

and yah, the 3 supra's in Nagoya are damn fast..u know, the Knight, Bishop and Rook. pure battles, trying to beat them man..i know i had a hard time winning. even in my 700hp FD...with the scramble boost turned on =P

i found the ultimate car in this game tho. it's the SW20 MR-2 with the naturally aspirated V6 engine swap. i hadn't finished the upgrades package with this car(lightening the chassis, reinforcements, etc.) but i managed to get it up to a 217mph top speed. i would imagine after getting all the mods for it, i'd be able to hit 230mph or maybe even 240mph in it. the car is a monster, it cannot be stopped at the beginning of a race...it just like, winds up and goes, leaving your rival in the dust. no joke, u should try it.

it was better on the dreamcast...

the gfx look so much crappier than on the dreamcast.

its a pain in the arse finishing it too cause it takes forever to be able to race some of those bosses.... ie. u must race in a certain type of car on a certain day and be on a certain part of the track for certain bosses to show... or it has to be a certain colour with certain mods...

other than that its an awesome game :D

Haha...I've only had the game for the past 2 weeks and I can't stop

Always walked passed it at shops and until I couldn't help myself and bought it......

What stages are u guys up to...took me ages to get a R34 and all u guys have already got it..i've got the JAP version..so I dunno if its different but I've played like 200 odd races and I still have plenty to go...I think there's like 500 odd races..cause once you finish the 3 stages first...you get 100000CP...which is like nothing, since everything is sooo ***in expensive and then new teams come up....to top it off there are always other teams which enter the stage for no reason hence adding up to the greater total of races....

In a NUTSHELL, its a very very long game

YOu will never catch up with the 'wanderers" once they blast past you unless they crash or hit the yellow vans, supras are really fast when modded...up to know I still can't beat the stupid RIDOX supra and I can't find it anymore....and yes I agree with the handling handling, its pretty ordinary

i finished the game.

i didn't beat all the wanderers, but i did beat the vast majority of them. some of them, i didn't even see on the highway.

it's a very long game, after you play the 1st round, you get like 1,000,000 CP to spend...then you go back to the 3 stages and unlock the entire highway, and with it, the remaining rivals and more wanderers.

when you finally beat the entire game (all the final bosses in all the cities) you'll get 10million CP to spend. but i'm sure by the time you reach that point, you would've gotten very bored of the game..i know i did.

ive had it for almost 2 years i think... u can only complete the game when u beat the true boss wanderer... ive got 3 more wonderers to go.... but then again... i havent played it for about a year :(

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
