Trust33
Z32 afm not larger in diameter than the R33T stock unit. I was under the impression that the afm itself was bigger in overall diameter. At least the stock holes still line up leaving me able to use the current filter. The only difference asthetically being the solenoid, the post that holds it and the plug. Maybe i confused it with an rb20 item?Hmmm. At least this afm gives a more accurate readout. Is it ok if i remove the mesh at the rear of the afm? 2rismo
People fit Z32 AFM's to gain a larger tuning resolution from them - NOT because they are physically larger. If you do not have aftermarket engine management, get some or you've wasted your money. Yes it is okay to remove the mesh from the back of the AFM if you feel the urge. Make sure you get it all out though. Laurence
People fit Z32 AFM's to gain a larger tuning resolution from them - NOT because they are physically larger. Just a pet peeve, the Z32 has a larger RANGE the resolution is actually worse!!!! Curse you HPI and your misuse of terms!!!! I need coffee... Trust33
resolution, range can both be interpreted the same because they both are very similar....Readout to the stand alone & pc.. Laurence
I don't quite understand what you have written there. Range and resolution are two completely different things. According to Sydneykid's magic table the RB25 is good for about 226rwkW whereas the Z32 can do about 255rwkW (has a 13% larger range). I suspect that simply putting the Z32 AFM would give false lower load readings which would make the car run lean, I would get your car on a dyno and check it out. browny
I'm with Gojira Range = Max - Min Resolution = Minimum interval size I'd be interested to know however whether its the ecu or the AFM that limits the resolution. R31Nismoid
if you dont have an aftermarket ECU... as 2rismo said - you've wasted your money as it wont work without one. if you do indeed actually have an aftermarket ECU, you also need the Connector Plug for the Z32 AFM also, not just the AFM itself. do a search in the Forced Induction secion. This has been covered 100's of times in detail Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/52184-z32-afm-not-larger-in-diameter-than-the-r33gts-t-stock-unit/#findComment-1039527 Share on other sites

2rismo
Just a pet peeve, the Z32 has a larger RANGE the resolution is actually worse!!!! Yes that's what I meant. At least I think so. The reasoning is sound if the logic is not. 2rismo
you can fit the AFM with the appropriate plug but you are at NO advantage if you dont have programmable management.
