Hey guys, Im going to be purchasing a R33 GTST within the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if I needed any extra or special paperwork when I change the car into my name? I have heard that vicroads can be a bit hard to deal with regarding imports.

As far as I know I need a Roadworthy cert. and change of ownership form!

Any assistance would be great

Thanks guys

It's just a R33 , they will ask what they would ask to a maxima or a 350z.... same thing applies..

Who will be doing RWC ?

If it has already been registered in VIC by previous owner than it not such a drama. Normal procedure I think.

Only if it's first time registration then you need:

DOTARS import approval

RWC

Proof of ownership (Invoice for car)

Engineering Certificate

And a bit of luck on your side...

When I got mine done (1st Owner in Oz) I had to make a special appointment to see VIC roads to get it registered, and all the importers in VIC had the appointments booked up for like two weeks. I had to goto Frankston to get it registered, and the guy was way dumb. He thought my car was a 200sx.

All you need is the transfer of ownership and RWC from past 30 days. If your lucky, the owner will have it done, or will do it once you make a payment.

Just make sure you have the tranfer fee. I forget the percentage, but will cost you a couple of hundred bucks. If it wasnt such a modern car, you could ask them to make the receipt for cheap ass, to save some dosh.

Shouldnt be any harder than a regular car. The sting will be the insurance. get some quotes , and then activate it the day you take delivery of the car. But dont be fooled with mainstream insurer etc.

I was going to get the car put in my dads name, coz racv were offering a rate 500 less than me. come D day, the computer rejected it processing it =[

Had to ring other insurance company at last minute.

Last note, if the car has blow off valves etc, anything to annoy RWC you better get that sorted first.

As mentioned above, if it has already been registered in Australia then it should be the same as any other car...

I bought mine (first owner in Aus) and basically told the guy i bought it off that i would pay him when the car was in my name... i made the appointment at vic roads, (the car had to go through the pits) and the seller came with me, i took a bank cheque for the agreed amount and when vic roads said everything was ok, i handed over the money...

i needed quite a bit of paperwork for the car as well (which the seller provided) so just be careful...

But Heath, Vicroads only employs esteemed professionals...

Quote the sale price as 15K as thats what you could get away with reasonably if it was stock....cough no thats not a 2535 turbo...its standard fitment my good man...

I think its 4% of the sale price, and transfer fee which is less than $100. They wont even look at your car in the fleh they just do the paperwork. The dramas people have when going to Vicroads that you would have heard of is when the car is unregistered.

Should be no probs, just get to the reg office fist thing in the morning as come 10am it gets busy.

PS cant wait to go for a spin in the new monster, it sounds awesome from the specs. Let me know if you want those bits and pieces : )

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
