Hi all,

I've got a 25 with top mount manifold running a t3/t4 which is supposed to be a 450hp turbo.

Now my questions are as follows...

If a turbo is rated at 450hp at 20psi what power in kw will it make at the wheels ?

Which is the best turbo for a 25 as an upgrade out of gt30,gt35,gt3540 or gt3040.

I dont want exessive lag so i was going for a .82 exhaust housing so i basically want to know which will go about making 300rwkw with the most bottom end to midrange on the least boost.(ideally 18psi)

Thanks for any help.

If a turbo is rated at 450hp at 20psi what power in kw will it make at the wheels ?

450bhp / 1.34 = 335kw

less ~60 kw for losses = 275 rwkw.

An example, we have an R34GTT with a GCG ball bearing hi flow and it makes 265 rwkw.

Hope that helps :uh-huh:

What about this turbo pushing 7psi on some crazy 6ltr stroker ? stupid I know but the car will make more then 450HP !!

Its silly to assume the turbo on any given boost is going to produce ex amount of power on your car. The turbo being rated at 450HP means it can flow 450HP but before this turbo goes on your car you might already be making more then 450HP...

As for 270rwkw at 20psi with that turbo you might not even get that !

Get your max fuel/ignition to boost levels you/your tuner want. See what power you make then that’s a clearer indication of what turbo you should go to.

IE: 14psi might be more efficient then 20psi on your car's setup. No one can answer that but the tuner on the day.

Ah no, the turbo only flows enough air for 450 bhp (about 45 lbs per minute). So if you put it on a 600 bhp (without turbo) engine, it will loose power. ;)

That wasnt what I said I said the 600Bhp motor would still make more then 450HP thats what I said. I know the restriction in its exhaust (the little turbo) will cause it to lose power.

Read more carefully.

Still no!. The turbo flows 45 lbs of air max, so the engine makes ~ 450 bhp, not 500 bhp or 550 bhp. :cooldance

Would anyone else like to answer my q?

WHAT ****KING TURBO SHOULD I BUY TO MAKE 300 RWKW WITH THE MOST BOTTOM END TO MIDRANGE AND ON THE LEAST BOOST?

Are they all that similar with the .82 back?

Cheers

What other mods are you doing for the 300 rwkw? The turbo is best chosen with all the facts known. :cooldance

Honest to god if you believe that Im going to prove it wrong to you in person, just give me 3 weeks till this 6ltr stroker is finished and ill show you it peel over 450HP with a 450HP turbo on it. You can watch it get dynoed.

If it flows more than 45 lbs of air per minute, then it isn't a 450 bhp turbo. :)

Oh its 450HP.... It runs 2 of them Im going to leave 1 off and dyno it  watch it crack over 500HP  :headspin: (Boat motor)

Well, well, whadyaknow, here was me thinking this guy is crazy. You are going to have some strange tuning issues to overcome though. :)

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
