I have a Power FC in my r33 GTR w/ hand controller. It's just a plug and play system. No additional wiring has to be done. In my Opinion they are a top choice. The Power FC is about 1500, the hand controller about 600. Noting has too be changed (e.g Airflow meters).

Something that i think is also great is the boost controler for it. it can be adjusted with the hand controller and ur boost lever can be moitored with the hand con/. Like Gav said its best if the Power FC is installed and Dyno d as son as posible.

Thanx for the responses.

I have managed to track one down for $1300 (brand new with 12 month warranty) with commander- it is in english format and ready to be shipped. Is this a good deal?

I found it through an advertisement in SAU - here is the site for anyone that is interested.

www.JapaneseImportParts.com

Has any one heard of these guys? Are they reputable?

Does this mean i wouldnt need a boost control or boost gauge?

Do I need anything else apart from the PFC and commander for boosting?

If customs dont get it your fine.
I remember reading on here about 3mths ago that Mr Nengun himself said that replacement ECU's are classed as "(something)" which doesn't incur any import taxes.

dosnt the gtr have different AFM to the gtst? If so, would I have to change my AFM on the gtst(r33)??

Make sure you buy one and quote your make and model of car.

THEY ARE CAR SPECIFIC.

He would have one specifically for the R33 GTR as i have a different one for my R33 GTS-T.

They are NOT interchangable so as long as you order the one for your car, you will be fine. www.nengun.com has been used by heaps of people on these forums, do a search and you will see. Very cheap and comes with warranty.

No offence, but you sound like a bit of a newby (me too) so i wouldn't bother with an electronic boost controller just yet. But hey, if your cashed up, go for it.

My goal at the moment is to have the Power FC installed and tuned with the front mount intercooler, a bleeder-boost-controller set to 11psi and my current exhause mods.

Very common setup. Go for that. Probably very close to the 200 rwkws.

I am aware that they are car specific-thnx.

Yeh - im fairly new to modifying performance cars.

Ive actually got a gtst, bought it about 7 months ago totally stock except for the rims.

mods so far

- turbo back stainless 3" with highflow stainless cat and 4.5" canon

- hks pod filter

- hks sequential BOV

- front strut brace

- ebc bluestuffs(fr & bck)

- timer.

Ive got a front mount ready to go on but I would like to install the power fc and boost control (I beleive when you lift the boost it is recommended to upgrade the head gasket also- is that so?)

and oil catch tank all at the same time as well as tuning. Be good to get the dyno result!

Later on I'll upgrade the turbo, injectors, fuel pump, oil cooler, coil overs, bars/bushes then maybe I'll do the internals.

There's no reason you can't do the front mount straight away.

Grab a bleeder valve fro $100 and do that whenever aswell.

Just make sure you install and tune the FC last, or at least at the same time as everything else.

Because the first time you install it you will be up for a $400-$600 tune, not advised to drive it without it being tuned.

If you LATER install the FC and or Boost ctrl, you will need to get it dyno tuned again.

My Power FC is currently collecting dust under the bed untill i get the front mount done.

Literally! Gotta get my act together :P

Do your front/dump pipes before the PowerFC.

Certainly incorrect.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
