Upgarage.. where are you located? looks like sydney in the photos! i have seen a sprinta similar to that colour at my mechanics... but i think that was gonna use a 20v or std 4age with side draft webbers etc..

that was gonna use 6pot brakes and stuff too!

have you sprayed the outside of it yet? are you using for street or just drag/track?

Looks like I will be getting a daily driver AE86 and leaving the r33 gtst in the garage

AE86 comes with met brown faded and flaking paint, white bonnet, rust in the tail gate and a blown head gasket

Has 5 speed and Air cond :)

$300

Have not decided what engine to put in

My last car was a AW11 MR2 with black top 20v and motec M4 but cost got too high. I think I will put a 20V silver top and factory ECU.

so you want a N/A engine in it? There was a pink AE86 drifting at wakefield on the weekend, NA 4age .. was going good but something broke, needed more power fo the long, high speed corners.

what price can you get the 20V with gearbox and loom for?

I have not started looking for a engine yet

My blacktop 20V in a front cut and auto box with 13,000km cost me $1850 about 6-7 years ago. Was only about a 12 month old motor at the time. It took me 6 years to get the MR2 on the road (got married and bought a house :) )

Silver tops are anywhere from about $600-700 plus

I will probably use the box that is in the car and just get a complete 20v with ecu and afm for approx $1000

not progressed coz its a low priority...

we're spending some time recently trying to use the old engine that we took out of the car (4ac) gonna make a blow through carby turbo, with the carby housed in a pressure chamber to avoid fuel backflow. plus some thick head gaskets and piston shaving to reduce compression should see a nice engine ready for another AE86 shell :)

what about reinsforcement of the float so it doesn't implode ... prety sure i've heard this happen on blow through systems.

do you trust the gear set for the 4ac to cope with that power..

same thing for you Darrin.. i dont think the gearbox from the 4ac will handle the 20v 4AGE power and revs etc.. i havent looked into it, but wouldn't think so from looking at the one we took out of the sprinter here!

The gearbox should be OK

The 20v only has about 120kw at the engine and not alot of torque

13 years ago i had a TA22 celica with a worked over 3TG twincam a that had more power and torque than the 20V. They use the same gearbox.

That box lasted over 2 years of constant thrashing (I was 19 :) It did eventually break 2nd gear. Went of the wreakers and bought another $250 g/box

If I was to turbo the 20v then i would start to be worried about the box.

fair enough darrin, they just look pretty weak is all. shame we gave away and exedy clutch that was in the car we bought, no use for it.. the block had 2 holes in it. damn rod went for a trip around the block lol

    • I'd be worried about having to parallel park a boat like that. Magnificent car though.
    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
