Hey Guys, I'm going to do a test tonight with my Carbon Canister. I'm going to by pass it and vent the spent gasses straight to the atmo and see what kind of Power increase (if any) and what kind of loss of fuel economy I get. Just wandering if anyone has already removed/by-passed the canister and what kind of performance results they got? Thanks in advance.

Ben, I've just found it floating around in a few performance articles - remove the Carbon Canister, make a few kw's and gain some room inthe engine bay.

And hell, I love the smell of fuel vapour :P

Strutto, like any of us would ever do anything "illegal" to our cars. Almost as preposterous as any of speeding. Geez.

More importantly, it's only illegal if you get caught.

well doesnt the canister attach to the plenum at some point?

u may gain a little response or something from having less pressure leaks from the plenum, other than that, i cant see any performance benefit?

Be sure to post the results though,

you will find you wont get any performance increase from blocking the charcoal canister, it works by storing fuel vapours from your fuel tank and purges them into the intake manifold during light throtle or cruising operations. it is also the breather for your fuel tank so its not the best idea to go blocking off all the hoses. it is a great system and it works very well so why dick with it

Why dick with it.....try removing your braking system, this only increases the rolling resistance of the vehicle...it should make you go faster though. Or you can remove the front and rear windshields to let the air pass straight through rather than around. That might work. What if you remove all the panels, seats, dash and carpets to light weight it...hmmm that's an idea. OR HOW ABOUT YOU JUST BOLT A FRIGGIN BIG TURBO ON IT AND STOP ***** FOOTING AROUND WITH LITTLE CRAP THAT WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND PROBABLY JUST GIVE SOME DUMB COP ANOTHER REASON TO TAKE THE CAR OFF YA.

Sorry, I got a little outta control there, right at the end bit.

lol settle down, he was just posting to find out if it was possible to gain any more power, we're always looking for new ways to gain that little bit extra

I dont think you'll actually gain any power. But if you decide to remove it, its probably a better idea to block off the line coming from the fuel tank which not only stinks and is a hazard, but also is a waste of fuel. Dont worry about the tank not being ventilated as the fuel cap is designed to let air in or out of the tank as needed.

How you enjoy the smell of petrol vapour when sitting at the traffic lights on idle.

Hope you dont smoke in the car

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
