beefy
Howdy! I am after 4 new tyres for my line. Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. These are the tyres I have been looking at: Size: 18 X 265 X 35 - Bridgestone S03's $500/tyre - Hankook K104 $275/tyre - Kuhmo KU19 $365/tyre Now I know the S03's are better but are they twice as good as the Hankooks for instance. The main use is for day to day use maybe a track day here and there. I am after a good all season tyre that will last me approx. 20,000kms If anyone has a good contact to get cheaper tyres please pass on the details Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55144-which-tyres-to-buy/ Share on other sites

Tyres are fine, haven't had any problems apart from the fact that i know they were cheap so i've burned them up lol. I'm never buying new tyres again i'll go back to North End everytime. WTF?? beefy
Thanks guys. I actually went with the 2nd hand option. Thought I would give it a try I got Pirelli PZero's Rosso's for the front 255 X 18 X 40 and Michelin Pilot Sport for the rear (same size) All with 90% thread on them for $400 the lot fitted. I'll let you know if I come across any issues with them. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55144-which-tyres-to-buy/#findComment-1077003 Share on other sites

ferni
I'd be a bit worried about putting different treads/worn tyres on front and rear of a GTR, it may end up playing with your torque split, keep an eye on it.... But yeah i only found out about that 2nd hand tyre place a couple of months ago, i'll be trying them out next time around. Jimbo2000
mate i just fitted the k104 hankooks a few months ago and they're really good cheap as chips and you can really feel they're a good quality tyre but seriosly you can get a MUCH better price than that for the k104's i found a few quotes for around that price.. shopped around and ended up getting em for 180 each so i just saved you 400 dollars, send me a cheque Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55144-which-tyres-to-buy/#findComment-1077084 Share on other sites
D.Chi
Well for drifting if anyone can afford it, get Bridgestone RE01 Potena. his sutff is really tough. Or just get the cheapesst performance tires you can find. beefy
Well guys under 100kms/hr it is awesome BUT... At 100km/hr they shake (quite badly) on certain parts of the freeway. Donnellans said it could be my 1 inch spacers OR the Mag wheels OR the tyres (not in any order) I don't remember the car shaking with my previous set but then again I wasn't taking extra notice as I am now from buying 2nd hand tyres. Any opinions? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55144-which-tyres-to-buy/#findComment-1080512 Share on other sites

Any opinions? Wheel spacers and high speed driving is bad idea. GTR rims should be around +25 offset then you would need spacers to make the rims fit properly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55144-which-tyres-to-buy/#findComment-1080516 Share on other sites

Any opinions? Could probably add suspension setup to list of causes. You talking about the Hankooks or 2nd hand tyres in general? Mine wernt shaking 1 iota @ 220km/h. beefy
They were shaking with the 2nd hand tyres. My suspension is stock standard Vspec Suspension and yah that could also be a factor. I suppose I don't want to return the 2nd hand tyres and get new Hankooks and find it still shaking. My brother is taking it to TruTrack @ North Melbourne to see what is the cause. Bass Junky
I'm also about to buy new tyres for my car. I need 235s for the front and 255s for the road (8 and 9 inch rims) The only tyres that do the same tread pattern front and rear for those sizes are Sumitomo and Yokohama. Are the Sumis any good? I have heard varying reports. My R34 is a daily driver and needs to have resonable wear qualities.
