gday guys, i am seriously considering buying a r33gtst, the thing is i want it to be able to run flat 12's (my current car does flat 13's so i want to trade up to something faster and rwd and i like the r33 shape) anyways my question is what is needed to be done to an r33 to run these times reliably and a ball park figure on costs, so i can weigh up how much it will approximately cost, will the standard internals, gearbox hold up? oh and how many rwkws are we talking about? any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys

no one?

i'm have a wrx atm, had to do quite a bit to get those times, turbo, intercooler, ecu, exhaust, boost, fuel pump, injectors, the gearbox blew and needed a new one, and its still running standard internals but should be getting forged pistons and so on, but i'm looking for something a bit more stronger in the gearbox and engine department

i'd reckon around 300rwkw to get a flat 12. Would cost a bit to get there i would think.

need all the things you have on the rex plus internal work as 250rwkw is about the the limit on r33gtst's. Gearbox should be ok i would think as they are essentially the same as the GTR 5 speeds.

Have you considered maybe an r32 GTR or perhaps even an R33 GTR if money allows as i have seen some pretty basic mods on r33 gtr get mid 12's quite easily and regularly (driving would be a factor as well).

hmm 250rwkw is about the limit on an r33? thats about the same as a 200sx, i'm really tossing up between these two cars, with 250 at the wheels the 200sx will pull low 12's, and it looks like i'll need to spend more on an r33 to get the same kinda times, what turbo do the r33 guys usually upgrade to?

Ok 1st read this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...read.php?t=9292

13.4second 1/4mile on around 200rwhp

now read this one (same dude but going for a 12second pass)

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...45&page=1&pp=25

u dont need 400hp+ (which is wat 300rwkw is) to run a 12second pass

to run a flat 12 and maybe more you will need a fair bit of power to get it. Look at that r34 HPI were building a while ago, it had like 290rwkw and it ran 11.99 or something. However, driving ability has a big part to play as well.

If you want an r33gtst keep std turbo you can get a high 12 like some on these forums, and if that doesnt do it for you, you can always do more.

With the 250rwkw, that is agreed point if you will to start changing some internals so you dont risk engine damage. However, people have gotten well over that mark on pretty much std internals, look at the JMS r33, over 300rwkw.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
