Coupe-This
hey guys, i was just wondering if you think twin dump pipes are worth the extra money, i was quoted $650 for a painted mild steel one of CES. Now i was wanting a stainless steel twin dump pipe and that would be even more extra $$$ ? i have a cat back exhaust on already and just upgrading the cat and dump pipe. bazr33
im goin to be puttin on a twin dump pipe soon , i have been to CES racing at the second toll way headin towards coast and was quoted highflow cat and twin dump for 930 even though they mite do a great job , i think its a bit expensive . i have thought about it and im gettin the twin dump at exotic exhaust down at sumner park jijaws street. they can do twin dump pipe for around 400 bucks, and their work is quality shit. i have looked at my engine and lookin at the stock dump pipe, how much restriction is there is eye opening. goin a 3 inch dump pipe or a twin dump pipe, your goin to notice some difference. im just goin twin dump pipe, as exhaust gas and turbo excess is goin out seperate pipes and apperantly suppose to flow better. Also CES racing quotin 24kw extra at the wheels is in my opinion, and not sure if its true or not, sounds a bit over the top. (considering you dont have a full 3 inch exhaust to start with.) hope it helps a smidge, just what i have learnt over the time thinkin bout it. riggaP
I have a CES twin dump. Worth every single cent. This pipe alone gave me around 10rwkw on a conservative dyno. Coupe-This
CES dont do a stainless steel twin dump pipe, hmmm i would of liked one myself is there any major differance between the coated and non coated versions? They sent me some pictures and some of the twin dump pipes look to be in stainless :s ... maybe just not in the r33 gtst. there reason for this is because they cant get a stainless steel tubing the right size for the waste gate (1.5' I.D) and the I.D of the main pipe is 2.875 which would equate to 3" pretty much. i really didnt want to mix mild steel with stainless. thats my main concern. any ideas :s Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59146-twin-dump-pipes-really-worth-it/#findComment-1131410 Share on other sites
riggaP
Stainless dumps tend to crack easier than mild steel due to the heat. The coated versions purpose is to keep the engine temps down a bit on hot days. Thermal tape can be used instead coz its usually cheaper.
