Hi ppls.

I've ran in to an injector problem and have had to get another set cleaned up and the old set that are stuffed ripped out.

I am after a place in SA that do a good job for a decent price.

Let me know if you know of some one and have had experience with them.

I think his name is John, cleaned my GTR injectors and got them flowing within 2% of eachother. He gave the terminals a clean as well, made sure everything was 100%

From memory it cost me less than $150, I think it was about $130

:) Chris

got my injectors cleaned at sprints fuel and carburettors

on bridge rd, next to the hyundai car dealer.

Cost me about $120 including new o-rings.

hope this helps.

Shaun

had the car in tilbrooks cause the car was leaning out.

Thought it was the fuel pump, but replaced that and

still found that i had the same problem. Then borrowed

a standard set of injectors from tillbrooks and got them

cleaned and the car still ran lean when i put them in.

So they think my computer has been chipped, but my

car was stock when i bought it so i have a problem

that no one can figure out.

That's why i got my injectors cleaned.

the fuel pressure reg is now been squished to hold pressure.

this brought the fuel map down .3. From 12.3 to 12, tilbrooks

said it wasn't the problem, its got everyone scratching their heads.

if i don't sell the car i will be putting an ajustable fuel pressure reg

on the car, will see if this makes a difference. I will also be checking

the computer for a chip. :P

i had my vl turbo ones done at mildren race engineering.

they are a bit more expensive than some places (because they charge extra for o-rings or new pintle caps) but they did the best out of the 3 places i've been to.

i had two other sets for my previous cars cleaned at other places (one near city dismantlers and one in lonsdale) and both times after the clean the cars were harder and required more cranking to start, which is apparently an indication of leaking injectors (and the puff of black smoke one of them blew after every startup confirms that).

I went through these guys to flow test, clean and re-flow test some injectors I might put into my FJ20, I requested a before and after so I could see the difference of what the clean did, they also replaced the pintle bits and o-rings and another rubber that sits near the top of the injector in the price, $25 per injector, extra if you need them to take them out of the fuel rail for you.

The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that they couldn't tell me how many cc/min the injectors are good for! Which to me seems a pretty basic thing, they do however give you details on how fast it flows a certain amount of volume, so from that you can work out the approx cc/min of the injectors based on the pressure they feed them at.

It's $20 per injector if you only want them cleaned and flow tested.

Cheers,

fj910

it was worth the money for the peace of mind i suppose, turns out they werent badly blocked or anything. the spray pattern is just hand drawn so in my case it didnt show any difference. however the flow rates were all the same after and they did vary a bit before.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
