217/r33
Hey guys I was thinking of selling my gtst and buying a R32 gtr. How does the gtr compare to gtst in performance, i have 217rwkw and it feels good, how will that compare to a standard gtr? Would handeling and suspension feel betar on the r32 gtr then the gtst? With the car been so old now would there have to be alot of work done to it like a rebuild or new turbos ect? How will they both compare all together? thnx in advance Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/ Share on other sites
Raging Demon
They say the GTR feels more like a race car. Also GTR's are AWD unlike the GTS-T which are obvisously RWD, you can config your GTR to be a RWD too. With a 15 y.o. car you should be changing some parts. Depends on the condition of the car too. I wouldn't be upgrading the turbo first, coz the turbo isn't really important. You can drive without a working turbo but u cant drive with dodge internals which are bound to fail. The GTRs' suspension is much different to a GTS suspension. GTRs' are harder, more for track racing. GTRman1992
I have a GTR R32 so I might be a bit biased, but up in the mountains or on a race track only other GTR's are keeping pace. Its the corner exit that seems to be the killer, when the 4WD slingshots you out and the twins get onto boost. mmmmm Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136494 Share on other sites
217/r33
yeah awd sure is great, but how would my r33 compare to stock gtr in proformance wise? (i have 217rwkw) My concern is that the rb25det engnies have a massive drop in the torque strating from 3000rpm to 4500/5000rpm and all the manegments just seem to just move the drop or make it more smoother but never can get rid of it. Does the rb26dett have this drop. i was told that it doesnt? thnx Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136502 Share on other sites

Morgs
Make sure you've got a large budget if you consider buying a GTR. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136757 Share on other sites
GTRman1992
I've never noticed any torque drop. It just gets on boost and pulls hard to redline. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136811 Share on other sites

RB30-POWER
Yeah the GTR's even in stock form are animals. Even stock, I would have a fair guess and say they would mince your GTST, even with 207rwkw. Tommyk
I just bought myself a stock R33 GTR, and comparing that to my stock GTS-T, it pulls much much harder It takes a bit longer before it gets up and going, but fark, once it starts, it pulls all the way to 8k. The GTS-T was a nicer drive around the city. With the GT-R, turbo's start spooling at 3, and are fully boosting @ 4.5k revs which is a bit high for my driving style. It is more of a race car than a street car, but I absolutely love it to death. So to answer your question, there is no drop in torque once the GT-R gets into its powerband. It keeps pulling and all you want to do is keep your foot planted while you change gears. Mind you, the first 3 gears are pretty short (180 clicks) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136943 Share on other sites
RB30-POWER
What speed are you pulling in first gear @ 7500rpm in the GTR? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1136950 Share on other sites

217/r33
thanks for all the replys I also was wondering how would a compleatly stock gtr compare to an WRX Sti i was in one the other day and its very very impressive power, pulls and pulls Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1137425 Share on other sites
RB30-POWER
Well a locally delivered WRX is detuned for aussie fuel, only has 195kw as compared to the Jap version that has 206kw. (Same as factory GTR) So the GTR still has a minor power advantage. I would say a stock GTR (in good health) would easily give an STI a run for its money. Bit more boost pressure and an exhuast on the GTR and you should easily leave it behind. Not being biased at all A few other members here must have run into a few sti's in their time, should be able to tell us some stories Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/59526-r33-gts-t-vs-r32-gtr/#findComment-1137454 Share on other sites
Sinista32
As one of the other car add says and I'd agree. Drive one and feel the difference. Oh and the advice on having extra cash - Spot on. Dizzo
With 217rwkw, do you get chopped by 180sx??? They are lighter so wouldn't need as much power to keep up.
