depends on what sort of scene you are into??

Are you a fan of:

Pubs, live cover bands & sinking heaps of piss? Omalleys, gilhooleys, landsdowne road.

Listening to top40 sh!t with a million teenie boppers? the drink, shooters, rose & rown.

Droppin a few disco bikies and rolling all nite? platinum & quest (broadbeach).

Bleach1 - i went to Surfers one year for NYE .... its simple ... club it til 11:20 then head down to the beach .... where you'll see a sea of heads stretching as far as the eye can see and fireworkers etc.

Ok, i made it back from surfers. I ended up in between the rose and crown i think it was and the beach on new years. The weather was awesome the whole time and there was plenty of nice girls around and the skyline didnt miss a beat. I can see why so many of my friends have moved up to brisbane or the gold coast.

Ok a few things i noticed though.

1, Where were all the police on the road? The whole time i was up there i didnt see 1 speed camera, hardly any police cars cruising other than around the cavill area and cetainly no highway patrol cars. Maybe im just used to the millions of speed cameras/police cars on the road here in Sydney. (i try to avoid breaking on the law on the road anyway)

2, No drinking on the beach!@#$!@#$!#$ what? i can understand maybe at schoolies time but come on. You cant beat a few drinks on the beach in summer especially with the weather you get up there.

3, Where do people ger there licences from? I have never seen so many crashes on one stretch of road. (gold coast highway) There was a beauty at that chevron island intersection between a police car an a volvo on sat night.

and lastly what the hell is it with putt putt up there. They are everywhere! im guessing the whole tourist factor.

4, I SAW FUEL FOR 79c, WTF?

Anyway i had good fun up there and thanks for the advice.

I was also quite suprised at the lack of speed cameras/rbt's on the raod through the christmas break. I did a good 100k's a day and didn't see one RBT (cept christmas eve and the wankers were making a traffic jam onto the freeway so they had to keep letting heaps of cars througH) and the odd cop car. Christmas night we drove from Mt Gravatt to Brownsplains and back without seeing one cop car. New Years Eve I saw two cop cars and they were on a main road just driving. Watching the news however, there were more drink drivers this year than last, but less road deaths. Weird.

I went through a speed camera yesterday (is yesterday still classed as the holiday period?) on Ferry Road/Bermuda Street. Not sure if it flashed me but I was a little (read 10k's) over the limit. Andrew reckons I was too far away for it to have flashed at me. It was heavy traffic too.

But yeah, the cops must have been somewhere if they caught so many drink driving (wankers!)

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
