I've been looking at a few compressor maps (GT35 .50 a/r)

It appears if you run 20psi you will run over the choke line with anything over 7000-7500rpm on a rb26.

Playing with airflow figures from the 4ltr I can see (i think) why this turbo was selected.

Thats providing I know what I am doing. Still getting the hang of it. :(

Going by what I can see, I would expect power to either flatten out (lack of efficiency = hot air) and or boost to drop off at the top end. It will be interesting to see really what happens.

could be my fault i just assumed thats what it was... (i dont know shit form clay when it comes to dynos its only the second time i have been near one)

but here is a more accurate test

down the main straight a oran park racing with a gibson hr31 which has 270rwkw he pulled about 3 car lengths on me (he weigh in about 200-300kg less)... then at the end of the straight he hit the breaks and i almost went up his bum man what a rush driving along side those beasts loved it...

I was looking at a GT35 .50 comp map.

I am a little confused at the moment as the GT35 uses a GT40 model comp wheel.

I've checked out a GT40 comp map with a .58 comp cover which is as close as I can get, the map is much better suited and allows 20psi right up until 8500 with around 55lb/min worth of air before it begins to choke. BUT this comp map was using a slightly larger comp cover so choking may begin at around 8000rpm.

Garret don't list a GT40 with the ford specs (exhaust a/r & comp cover), that doesn't mean it isn't a custom job.

Garret do list a GT35 with the exact ford turbo specs (.50 comp over and 1.05a/r exhaust a/r). Being the GT35 uses a GT40 model wheel could it be this?

If you were to use the GT40, 20psi & an RB26 that were to rev to 10,000rpm it would completely use the comp map (max 63lb/min).

An RB30DET would need 8500rpm & 20psi to flow the same air.

I'm sure it will keep making power as it goes in to choke as these little stock T3 turbos must be constantly in choke from anything above 5500rpm lol. :)

by all acounts it should flow some more

who knows....the boost went to 1.2 bar at 5000 rpm it made almost 270 then before greg stoped to turn it down abit

ill get a power fc and let greg loose with some injectors ect and some cams athen we will see what it can do

dont really know just happy with it as is at the moment

Joel its not difficult to be confused with Garretts PDF . I think the maps of the GT32 and GT40 may be describing bush bearing turbos . In that list GT30R and GT35R , I think the "R" denotes GT series Ball Bearing CHRA . If you looked at the GT42 it shows the optional BB CHRA .

With the comp covers the maps don't tell if they are TO4E or TO4S . I know for sure that Garrett did the E covers in .50/60/70 ARR's where the TO4S ARR's are all over the place with odd ball no's to suit diesel apps .

The 50 E cover would not have any meat left over with an 82mm compressor in it . Ford would have looked into the maximum flow of the cover and probably decided it was enough for 240KW (crank) with effectivly the 4 psi that makes it to the inlet manifold . Brett tells me that 6psi leaves the compressor and 4psi leaves the intercooler .

I reckon looking at the large 1.06 ARR turbine housing and adequate ? comp cover Ford were trying hard to have little restriction on the exhaust side , and just enough inlet flow to get the power rating .

Garrett and Ford would have the compressor map for this combination but getting it out of them would be difficult .

As an RB bolt on these should be pretty good , its just a pity Garrett haven't done the .82 turbine housings as well .

It will be interesting to see the actual numbers.. 5psi doesn't sound like much but it may very well prove to give a nice increase in power with the ol' rb at low rev's.

I'm about to select a comp cover for my turbo so I need to do a bit of reading up on these TO4E and TO4S comp covers.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
