Have a look at the attached pic and notice the lights that I circled. When I first got my car I was trying to figure out how to turn these on (I thought they were foglights). I gave up after I tried every switch, and then I realised after an inspection that there weren't any bulbs in them!

I want to fit bulbs into this space and I was wondering if anyone has done it?

If no one has done it I'll let you guys know how I go when I get around to doing it.

cheers

Yeah there are really tini tiny bulbs that specially made for series one only, they are size of pin, if you look carefully you might able to see it.

Normally they are disconnected from the boot of the car just plug them in from the little black fuse box that is located under the spare tire and firewall in the boot.

I hope I made sense there... ;) ;)

cheers

Joe

Hmm mine had big bulbs,

It seems some of them have and some of them have not.

My first R33 had a mspec front bar with those foggies all hooked and working

My new R33 does not have a mspec front bar and the foggies are't hooked up.

Looking @ mates R33's it would seem that some have them and some don't. The acutual light assembly stays the same but the "connection" is not in.

I don't htink its easy hooking it up either , and they were't so "bright" so u mite wanna invest in some after market ones anyways

ive been wanting to hook mine up since the day i got it.. however im pretty sure there are no globes or connnections. there is only the wiring running from the fuse and it stops at a plug behind the front bar. i guess you could order them through nissan maybe? who knows??

oooh!!!

YES!

This is exactly what I wanted to do, but have them as park lights!

I bought 2 WHITE 6000mcd LEDs from Jaycar, and some matching resistors... Behind the fog light bit is a small rubber elbox, pull that off and there's enough diameter to squeeze an LED in it!

BINGO!

Hooked the LEDs up to the parker circuits... works... Like Joe said, they are the size of a pin and dont give out much light. I want to drill into the back of them to allow more light through, but couldnt get that indicator assembly out to do it.

I'm going to give it another shot on the weekend. However, the white leds look awesome already :(

i would imagine using these LED's would really only light up the inside of the light enclosure. How does it look from the outside? is it worth doing? or i invest in a globe that produces more light?

the LEDs are 6000mcd (blinding to stare at directly) IMO I like the white light of the LED better than a yellowy-globe....

and yes, it only lights up the light enclosure, but it has tiny holes upright in a line vertical that let the light through......

there are 2 different assemblies... one has only the indicator and a dummy reflector while the other has the indicator and the auxiliary lamp... there are 2 obvious differences when u line them up next to each other... 1) one of them has horizontal lines on the lens while the other has vertical lines... 2) the one with the auxiliary lamp has a smaller indicator space than the one without...

I got mine working a while ego. They had big bulbs and all wiring connected. I just needed a $50 relay from Nissan (same as your lights) which goes to the engine bay fuse box and a switch connected to the spare wires sitting under cover of your steering column.

Let me know if you need more info.

Tom

aha.. and they not bright at all

This is 100% correct. My car came wit this option from the factory, as i have the switch mounted on the indicator stalk. Unfortunately i had to remove these fog lamps, as there are alot deeper than the indicator assy. without foggies, as they were not sitting properly when i installed a fmic.

I now use this switch as my boost switch :).

Are you saying the indicators with fog light is deeper than the one without? I thought they would be the same depth so they'll both sit at the same position in the front bar. Otherwise Nissan would have to make two version of each standard & Type-M frontbar, one for installing indicators+fog and one without fog.

Wouldn't be too economical from manufacturing point of view?

Same bar, same mounting position, just that the depth (behind the bar) is differant. (There is alot of space between the bar and radiator, or whatever else is behind the bar)

Compare the pics above to a std. indicator assy. You will see that where the reflectors (std) are it narrows significantly, as the fog lamps remain straight. I can show you in person as i have them in my shed (Be it in very poor condition, another reason why i replaced them)

I modified the pic above to demonstrate the rear housing of a std. indicator assy.

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
