lucky no one was hurt - sure can't move tree's that easily!

Which makes you ask yourself... How fast was this guy going before he hit the curb, rolled the car twice, and STILL managed to carry enough velocity to COMPLETELY UPROOT A TREE?!?!

Check out the last photo eek4.gif

Dont worry guys, with our current import laws, for every 'line thats written off, they bring in another 100 from Japan so whats the big deal? Lets hope our cars dont end up like those Shit-ba-rus out there....... too f$ckin many of 'em......

By the way, I bet it was his attitude or his P-plates that wrote it off. ;P

I enjoy these sorts of photos. Makes me smile seeing some hero write off his car :(

I'd suspect his insurance company is also going to say "NO CAR FOR YOU!"

Just a question...

I keep hearing people saying this when threads like this pop up... But why would insurance invalidate his insurance? Surely speeding on the roads and losing control of the car is the cause of many many accidents? Even if he was "street racing" or whatever, surely his insurance would still hold true?

I thought the only reason your insurance could be rendered null & void is if you were under the influence of drugs or alcohol? dunno.gif

I believe that if they can prove  that you were breaking road rules whilst the accident happend, they can null your insurance.

But isn't speeding "breaking the road rules"??

I know that even if you're speeding and write off your car, you'll still get a full insurance payout!

If that were the case, insurance would be able to invalidate something like 50% of accident claims!!! :(

If they can prove (ie have a police report that concludes that you were speeding) then they will invalidate the insurance, it's just they only do it in big accidents. It's kinda like working out who is at fault.

Really!!!! That's very surprising actually... It's not that I don't believe you, I just find it surprising that they can do that.

For example, a taxi driver ran a red light and completely anihilated me as I was driving across William St. Red light camera took photos, I had heaps of witnesses, etc etc... So there was no question that he "broke the road rules" and he was at fault.

But his insurance company still paid him his insured value and obviously the value of my car (both cars were written off) dunno.gif

Hmmm.... Are you sure they paid him off? Actually i might be wrong about breaking the road rules.... I ll have a look at my policy sometime later....

Yah, I'm positive that he got his insurance paid out...

I'd be very very very VERY surprised if they were allowed to invalidate insurance contracts because people broke road rules though. MOST accidents are caused by people breaking road rules, and they always get their insurance paid out.

If that were the case, they'd be able to reject 80% of insurance claims!

p.s. fatz, your sig sucks!!!!

Ofcourse you still get paid out your insurance if you were speeding, run a red light etc... That's why we pay $2000 a year lol because they figure we are more likely to do such stupid things... If they could null ur insurance because you broke the road rules, everyone would pay the same premium because they wouldnt have to pay us out...

The only thing is you lose your NCB and have to pay an excess.

I was under the impresion that if you received a more serious charge from the police, you would not be covered.

Ive just looked through my policy, nothing to say 'if you're being a dick..."

*but*, theres a clause listing "if your car is being used in a race, trial, test or contest" you wont be covered. Another section says the same for any "circuit" (ie race track), so they differentiate the 2.

Gosh... it's quite clear none of you guys have been on the other side of an insurance company policy.

If you're guilty of speeding or running a red light, you are guilty of a civil offence or what the Americans would call a 'moving violation'.

The insurance company will pay on those conditions. God knows I've gotta a few neg. driving fines to go with paying an excess.

But if you're convicted of a criminal offense (ie. DUI, ignoring sirens, driving while in commission of a crime), the insurance company will not pay up.

Nor will they pay up for any cars you hit along the way.

T.

hope nobody was in the passanger seat

if there wasnt then the driver is lucky his side didnt whack the tree.

silly driving obviously looks like it was the cause of this, so in that case il take the front bar as it only has a chip and little scratch on it.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
