Man i just came back from the city where i've been defected in my almost stock skyline.

I couldn't believe the amount of cops that were all through the city JUST to defect imports (although they did get a few commos!!!).

Got me for my pod and a busted high beam (luckily the 3inch exhaust was quiet enough for em). :kick:

Also got me for driving a manual on a vic auto p plate licence (although i was informed by the RTA when i moved back to syd that the green p rules applied to me which would mean i'm allowed to drive manual!! I've had ps for 2.5 years now!!!!)

Anyway i noticed a lot of cars got done and a fwe other lines. Just wondering how many copped it worse than me. Hoping someone will make me feel better, as they told me i'm not allowed to drive my car till i get my licence thing sorted out.

I can't believe they would waste that many resources just to defect these cars, no wonder crimes up to shit in syd.

let me guess. U r about 60 nxtime. The fact is i couldn't have got anymore, its not like they let me get away with anything. I keep my car relatively stock so i don't get hassles, all the mods it has i bought it with from a dealer (pod and exhaust). I wasn't doing anything crazy, i was in the city for a farewell party for a friend, i was the only one in the car. Also i'm 24 so not exactly a young hoon, and i was parked when they told me to follow them for a "roadworthy inspection" so it wasn't cause i was doing anything wrong.

Re: the licence problem, i already said i had checked with the rta and they had given me misleading information.

So if you wanna spit out some more ignorant misinformed information then please think twice and keep it to yourself. Not all P platers are evil.

siksII - there were a few different lots of em. I saw 2 different setups at the rocks, 1 of em was on george st about 10 cops or so aouside the orient hotel, another (the one that got me) was further around in the backstreets (can't remember st name soz) and had about 20 or so cops (including the ones driving around bringing people in).

Don't get me wrong i can understand having defect stations set up, but having that many police taken away from patrols just to check cars seems rediculous.

What do you expext after all the recent crashes involving young drivers? Count yourself lucky that you didn't get more.

Please tell me how any of this is ignorant misinformation? You're 24 and still on your P's, eh? :boohoo:

The police don't care how old you are, but skyline and P's = defect in their eyes. Now after the recent spate of incidents, a defect blitz such as this is NO surprise. They were out to get as many imports and p-platers last night, you don't have to be Einstein to realise that. So you got defected for a car you bought from a dealer, so what? I could get defected driving my new car out of the showroom door. So you don't think that the police could have been harder on you? Of course they could have, hence, count yourelf lucky that they didn't use their descretionary powers and ask you to go to the EPA to check your emissions and exhaust dB level.

Having said this, I don't wholeheartedly agree with such actions by police, but they have to do something to show that they are acting on the recent accidents and incidents involving P-plates. How can they best show the public this? By running a defect blitz in the city, of course!

Me and a freind were in my GTR and were going up george street down to the rocks. Every cop around looked at the car but didn't flag it down / pull it over, externally it looks stock except for wheels and exhaust, but we saw heaps of other cars getting flagged down near the orient hotel at the rocks.

We were heading to the docks and some guy in oncoming traffic advised not to go there so did a U turn and left the city.

P.S You didn't have to own a skyline or be a p-plater to get pulled over last night.

LOL. who quotes themselves in replies ahahahahah. Couldn't be bothered arguing with you nxtime, if you read the initial post it said nothing about being hard done by by the cops. This post was just to find out who else got done and what they got done for (cause i saw a lot of heavily modified vehicles being dragged in).

Please don't go off on your own tangents to give you an excuse to be beligerant. My point was that i think it was a bit of a joke seeing this many police dedicated to pulling in cruising cars, when theres so many other probs around.

I understand them busting the street racers etc, but i don't see how this will help that at all. How much street racing takes place in the city dude?? PLease read my initial post again, i know it was early morning when u read it the first time

Anyway i digress,

Even my rims are stock. You guys are lucky, but the one at the docks was the larger of the 2 operations. Thats where they dragged me. Sounds like i was the only unlucky one around here though.

p.s i think most p platers in skylines (and most modified cars) are lunatics and like to see the police crack down on them if they do stupid things.

I think you are the being ignorant if you think that I am being belligerent - that is far from the truth. I requoted myself because you don't seem to be able to understand the context nor meaning of the post I made. I suggest you re-read it again before carrying on on your own tangent with disregard to what is actually being said. You were unlucky. Oh well. Once again for the dummies: I don't agree with the defect blitz, but it is to be expected. Is that simple enough for you? I know plenty of others who were defected last night, too.

I have wasted enough of my time.

calm down guys time for a group hug and make up :)

either way bad news shif_tea and lucky i decided not to go into the city. the rocks is always a bad area of the city for getting defected, if there is anywhere in the city that a defect blitz would happen, the rocks would be top on the list of locations, so best to stay away on friday and saturday nights.

im surprised they actually asked you to follow them since you were parked, bad luck eh.

yeah i was a bit shocked by that, not sure if its legal to get me when i'm parked!! I don't normally drive into the city of a fri or sat night so i've never actually seen them before. Normally i just use train so i can drink, i was pis*ed off cause i only decided to drive at the last minute!!! Think i'll be sticking with that idea from now on, i don't go in there to cruise or anything.

Anywho, i didn't get done too majorly, fingers crossed that my vl airbox will fit so i can drive it until i can buy an r33 one.

Yeee i was going to the rocks when somebody told me in opposite traffic there defecting. I turned right to go to cicular quay coz i saw they had a defect station setup. I ended up going backstreets to get there and when i got there cops were walking around in groups telling everyone to leave or they weill get defected.

Some people just dont learn. Police and local residents around the rocks hate the modified car community, most due to the high numer of complete dickheads that go down there, start fights, do burnouts, and generally carry on like complete morons.

Anyone with half a clue will not be surprised at defects being handed out. Its been like this for years and most people know to steer clear if they dont want to be caught in the middle of a defect dragnet.

As for the amount of police involved in these operations, they need the numbers to counter the huge gatherings of cars that congregate in and around the rocks and other areas. The defect operations are spurred by complaints.

So before people complain at being defected, either a) make your car compliant with the law, B) dont go to places where there is clearly a high risk of being defected, or c) quit complaining

I got pulled in at the top of george and the cop tried to ping me for not having my headlights on, my car is a completely stock cefiro with the factory projector headlights. i couldn't believe what i was hearing, he said put your headlights on, i said they are, he said don't be a smart arse. I showed him with the parkers on, then the headlights, he spoke to another cop, then they let me go, i mean, they shouldn't be defecting if they don't know what a f*&king headlight looks like!!!

Residents in the rocks??? I thought they would complain more about the people partying around the clubs making noise and having fights. And under the brdge and near the docks there is no residents is there??

Yes, and plenty of them.

Dude i'd complain if i got done doing 180km/h in a 50 zone but it wouldn't mean that i'd think i was in the right. Once again this wasn't a whinge session, just trying to see if anyone else got done (although i still think that its a large waste of resources on stuff like this)

Anyway glad to hear someone is on the police's side, its about time....good on you you good samaritan!!

(maybe u should talk to nxtime, yas seem to have to same opinion!)

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
