Simon, tricky to set up I believe and what is wrong with the normal power fc?

Pete has good hp and excellent driveability with the normal one using Z32 afm's.

I would suggest that if you want the no AFM route , use Autronic, or heaven forbid..wolf. Just be prepared to pay for the tuning on the latter... :D

Cheers

Ken ( now wearing flame suit)

Simon, also consider the fact that the Datalogit software used in some shops may not support the D-Jetro.. I cannot get my PFC Pro tuned anywhere on Datalogit for the same reason... If you're happy to tune via h/c and want launch control I'll do ya a swap for a standard PFC... I believe R32 and R33 GTR PFC's are interchangable.. :D

Cheers

Brett

i recommend you stick with the afm and ditch the map sensor idea... its a much more accurate way of measuring the mass of air coming in. drive-ability will suffer if you switch to a map sensor - and you will need a retune for any changes to the engine if your running a map sensor

I'm very interested to know about Power FC djetro also as I have noticed from the photos of my GTR that it does not have afm's. I would suspect it's running a map based ecu such as HKS FCON? The cost of buying 2 afm's and a std power fc would far outweigh the cost of a djetro unit....

540 isnt enough :)

$760-780 for two knew z32 afms with plugs from repco, not sure on there limit

(they read about 4v at 530rwhp so plenty of range left) but if your playing in this ball park then money should not be your issue as you will be spending sh.. loads on everything else anyway

ie clutch, gearbox, internals, fuel system etc etc

But you would need a retune if you changed something anyway. even with afm power fc.

not quite, say you take down the boost pressure, or change the boost controller arrangement ie wastegate creep control, then on a map based car it will need a retune

whereas on an afm based engine, it measures mass of air directly with the afm and thus knows if boost has been changed etc..

of course any big changes and you will need a retune on a afm based car as well..

but the big point is afms will give a better tune then map sensors, as they are more accurate in measuring the air coming in, i agree with what pnblight has said, stick with either twin z32's or rb25 afms :)

$2k deal for engine management sounds like a steal to me ,as ecu and air/fuel control is everything if your trying for 540 plus rwhp i would be spending some series money on management and not looking to cut corners ,especially if you want this car street drivable

i think you will find alot of tuners would tell you to spend the money on management over many other thing first

but this is only my opinion and i have had great results with my pfc and afms, went you get the right guys tuning (Lumpy is the man for pfc)

IIRC the Apex PFC weak point is not being able to work with d-jetro...not sure on the Apexi Pro version.

Regarding the F-Con V Pro it's not a problem thus tuners' choice. Not sure on the F-Con SZ/SA...but I think it can also run d-jetro as it can be converted to a full-com but don't quote me on it. My December Option issue has gone walkies...but there is a comparison in there outlining the strong and weak points of all the Japanese CPUs. F-Con V Pro obviously wins out right as the best, but question I ask many is do you really need something like a F-Con V Pro, unless your after 600ps+!

Theres a few others i know of who can tune power fc just as well. cheers.

Hi there, Tuning an F-Con V Pro in Perth is a problem as we do not have someone here that is capable at present, thus my intention to get rid of the F-Con CPU. In a quest for saving a few dollars I considered in the light of not having AFM's it might be cheaper to seek out a MAP based ECU to replace the F-Con with that can be tuned locally. I'll be happy with a clean 400rwhp, so MAP sensors are not a necessity.

Looks like I might just have to fork out for z32 afm's and a std Power FC...

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
