Was it a speed camera?

I was driving home from a cruise on the Gold Coast last Saturday night, well 3am Sunday morning. I was travelling behind my mate as we drove through a small town (50k zone) and there was this blue/white flash from a car parked on the side of the road. I think it was a small car, not a falcadore and there was no speed camera in use sign.

The flash appeared to be a bar of superbright LEDs from behind/in front of the windscreen. It didn't flash my mate in the car in front and we were both doing 70kph but it did flash my mates travelling 10 mins behind us.

Do you think it was the cops or was it some smartar5e playing with some kit he bought at Tandy?

May have just been a reflection. In NSW they either have to pull you over, or have the speed camera in use sign...

Also, I doubt the cops would risk leaving that kind of expensive equipment unattended at 3 in the morning...

well it could be anything really, cops dont have to use comodores or falcons, nor do they have to put a speed sign on the road anymore stating they are using a speed camera, casue as most people notice there are signs all over nsw stating speed cameras are used on nsw roads.

As much as I would like to think it was just a reflection it wasn't as I could see the individual cells of a flash bar. Do the cops use this type of flash? I've never seen it before but I've never seen the mobile cameras in operation without the 'speed camera in use' sign either.

How long does it take them to post out an infringement notice?

I guess I'll find out either way soon enough.

in Vic they use any car cos they contract out alot of the work to private companies.. Rav 4's, camery, Excels.

in QLD I believe they still do.. everytime I have seen a speed camera it has had the sign. Sometimes, they make half assed attempts to hide it, but it's still there... I believe they should be there as they make people slow down on that section, which is the aim of the cameras.

some of them in other states work on IR.. they don't need a flash..
