Thursday 24th of March, 2005 - Thursday Night Mystery Cruise

Recommended Posts

Thanx for organising that btw Cy...we didn't get to meet officially but had a chat near the end I was in the silver gts25t near the end just in front of the 3 silvias. Was a really good night, everyone was responsible about their driving etc and everyone I met seemed like good ppl.

Will definitely be coming to more cruises. If I can afford the petrol.

That is good fun, never been on that mountain....I used to go to the one called the Gap.....

Just got some question to ask everyone....what size tyre does everyone used and suspension.....coz it seem my car's tyre werent too big for Mountain (235 front and 265 rear)....I keep got overtaken by other Skyline :'(.....and also what gear was most of the people using in the mountain???I was keep going up and down in 3th and 4th.....

and last question, does anyone want to go to have a drive to the mountain(The GAP) I used to go.....it is pretty good track too....at the end of the mountain road, there is actually a long straight road(about 900m).........so if anyone interested, then I will organise one to there in next mth or so....

I was surprised, Will not running aroun and having flashes of light eminating from his general direction every couple of seconds was, wierd.

nah it wasnt cold enough for me to show my highbeams

still not into taking pics at night in pitch black.

I'm going up Cunningham's Gap today

Unfortunately my mother will be in the car with me hehe...

Also gotta watch for cops on the brissy side of the gap because they sit down the bottom of the hill with a speed camera and to stay within 60 you gotta ride the brake all the way to the bottom.

Nice bonnet btw Stephen :P And don't worry about being overtaken it's better to drive a bit slower than to drive too fast and get a lift home or worse

yeah had an awsome night, unfortunaley i got a speeding fine on the way back to brisbane :P wasnt doing anything stupid though just 118 on the motorway, got pulled over by one of those new blue highway patrol cars.

Hey stephen, you car was confussing me lol, is it a gts-t with all the gtr guards? and what engine is in it? Your car looks very hot

Tyres, suspension and gear selection aren't your problem my friend......you just aren't running enought boost

:kick:

was this in the 100 zone? or the 110 zone?

If it was the 110 zone i would be contesting that as you are not 'officially' speeding until you are doing 121kph (10% leeway allowed as per ADR's)

Negative, check the laws, 4kms over is the first break in QLD, 2kms over in NSW and Vic

strutto, either prove me wrong or back me up, you'll know oh knower of all things ;)

AFAIK, what the police police, and what the ADR's require, are 2 completly different things... Farked up? Yes...

So, if your going 1km over the speed limit, then technically you can be fined... In reality though, this doesn't happen... My feeling is that Ben was in the 100 zone, and as silly as the whole issue is, being booked for 18 over is par for the course... If he was in the 110 zone, then I'd put it down to the Easter Blitz, double demerits, and those new blue cars we all paid for...

Yeah I saw you pulled over by that blue cop car. Very unlucky

okay i will give u the story on bens speeding fine as i was in the passenger side seat. we was cruisin rnd the 110 - 120 mark and thinkin that it was still the 110 zone.but when we got pulled ova he said that it was 8km back was the start of the 100km Zone. got pulled ova and he said that he clocked us 3 times at speeds that i cant remember. he said that he clocked us first time from 300m away which i was like hmmm what the at nite time dont think so. but yer is the jist of it we had a time until those events happened

My car is a GTS-T with Full GTR body....I bought the car shell without the engine and chassis...then I put a RB25 into the shell.....so it can say it is a GTS-T or a Feak GTR....I just need to put the Bambo Break into the car, then no one will notice my car isnt a GTR.....Coz most of the people found out it is a GTS-T by the Break........

TwoQuik......er....I saw you were stopped near springwood MacDonla with that Police crap.....so how was it???Did he say anything bad to you???Sorry to say that , but I have to Thanks you....coz if I left earlier then you....I will be the one got caught, coz as you known...I got my D-Plate on my car.....so Thank You so so much.....

Hey Silver's R33...

Next time you going to the Gap.......give me a yell...I will come.....I am more used to the Gap...

Remember to call me next time man~~

Ok man, my mum wouldn't have been impressed though I think haha, she already said she wouldn't go up to my grandma's with me again in my car, and I wasn't even speeding (much). No more than the family-holiday commodores and magnas surrounding us anyway.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
