dayne
Hey guys, I have a r33 RB20E I'm getting 250kms per tank on ultimate, and 300kms per tank on optimax, just had new plugs, new oil, etc. I only rev out gears occasionally, and i cant seem to work out why my fuel economy is so damn bad! Ive put up with it long enough, but now its past a joke! I only live 5-10kms from school so it does do a fair few cold starts a week... Can someone suggest how i can go about fixing this? and getting a bit more kms out of my tank, i dont have any complaints about the car bar that. I was thinking dyno tune, but what else is there?? and is this even possible with the stock ECU. Also, is there anything i can buy aftermarket to make the situation better? can i advance timing etc?? Thanks guys.... Dayne Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/68699-fuel-problems/ Share on other sites
Eug
hmm... 250-300 to the tank is quite poor.. specially in a 2L car... I wud recommend maybe try resetting the ECU? (there are threads - try a search) clean the afm? but yeah a dyno sounds like a good idea and will save u from mucking around - check the AFRs and see how it goes. keep us updated man. NJR 34GTT
Sounds like a possible faulty O2 sensor or AFM. Thats ridiculous consumption! I thought mine was bad but noway near that bad. gatty
a rb20E or a ca18 skyline wouldn't be too fast... and mate some people say to spray the sensor with contactor cleaner - whereas I recomend circuit board cleaner as contactor solution does leave a residue Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/68699-fuel-problems/#findComment-1273520 Share on other sites
dayne
rb20e is a little faster then your 100kw corolla, civic si,vti, etc! not the fastest thing, but when youve just turned 17 i dont think you'd really care. i'll try that, and a few other things today n let u all kno how i go. Ant
yeh there are a few owners on sau....there's even been a CA18 33 CA18 was R32 (GXi model) only, thankfully! I think a whale would be a bit too much for the poor little 1.8L to cope with.... R33 GTS (ie no '25') has the SOHC RB20E for reasons best known to Nissan.
