Hey all i am new to the skyline scene and was wondering how much boost the r33 GTS25t has from factory?

also i have replaced the factory boost solenoid with a turbosmart dual stage controller but now in the high setting (which was sett at 7psi on the factory gauge) it detonates. what would be causing this and how do i fix it

this is my first turbo car and i am not to familliar with the full workings of the tubro ecu setup my other car is a n/a 13b rx4 (huge bridgy) so go easy on me

Because the factory setting boost gauge (located in your dash) is not measured in PSI. If you are making it reach 7 then you are running alot more boost than you think! Upwards of 14psi which will make your turbo die reasonably quickly.

Do a search on this forum as it has been covered extensively.

Detenation will most likely be caused by your spark plugs. If you are running more boost then you need them regapped to .8 or .7

There are threads about this if you search up mate - not having a go just saying because I can't remember but I have read it here but +7 is something ridiculously bad for your stock turbo.

You should probably go easy as it sounds like you're leaning the engine out - if you don't want or can't get a normal boost gauge (which I highly recommend) then tune the boost controller on the dyno.. atleast then you'll know if it's running dangerously lean.

I think a sponsor in the sponsor section has gauges for $90.

Good luck.

it wasent all the way up on the +7 but was just under , when we put in the dual stage controller it was wet so when we went to test it all it didd was spin the treads on low setting and the high,

it was only when i drove it in the dry that i noticed it broke up under load on the high setting when it happened i backed off asap then wound the boost down

doesnt do it now,

do you know how much psi +7 is?? on the stock gauge?

stovk gauge reads in mm's of Hg (mercury) same unit as used for blood pressure i beleive.

Yes! get a after market boost guage, the stocker is useless as you have to convert the reading to something normal ppl understand.

Also keep in mind that at around 10psi IIRC (could be 12) you'll hit factory fuel cut if running a stock ecu.

My recommendation for anyone looking to up the boost of a stocker is to wait until you have your induction zorst and ECU done. these cause the boost to creep up a few psi with just them present, and they will also cope better with the increased boost, stopping you from getting a blood nose on your steering wheel after you hit fuel cut the first time.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
