  1. Thanks for the advice all. Nashy that was just the kind of break down i was looking for. Thanks for that. As for importing, i'd really like to as i;ve seen some really nice example over there (theres one at auto sports rabbit that looks mint but is $34k), but the biggest problem is stumping up a majority of the cash up front without taking a big hit to savings. Maybe its worth parking for a while and putting some money aside just for it. if a nice example pops up in nsw i can grab it, otherwise bring one over when i'm ready. Thanks again all.
  2. Nice, just checking out the act to nsw rego hoops. Got your pm, will contact you soon.

  4. As the title says, looking for a white 260rs in good nick in N.S.W. Not looking for any conversions, must be factory produced 260. Looking to pay around the $20k mark. EDIT: changed location to nsw instead of Sydney.
  5. Ok so i've been given the green light by the mrs to buy myself a car. The rules are simple $20kish price, avoid any massive up front expenditure (eg she'd prefer finance over 5 years to buying it outright) and practical (e.g cope with dog surfboards and passengers) all other choices are left up to me. Now to clarify we're not tight up for cash so i can afford to maintain whatever i purchase, but the request to avoid big upfront costs is just to maintain the pool of saving we've been buying. It strikes me that a 260RS is the way to go (seeing as i always wanted a gtr but i cant fit a dog and a mini-mal in a gtr). currently there are 7 on carsales (one in nsw) and an unknown but larger number in japan. I have done some searching/research, but i'd like to get some confirmation that my results are correct so far. So now on to my questions. 1. Is there anyway to obtain finance on an import vehicle (eg one that still in japan) i've done some googling and have so far found the answer is no... but sometimes yes. Am i correct in that yes is a corner case or has anyone in the importing business had decent success with this? I can get finance through by bank at around 8.5% but i dont think getting it on a car in japan will work with them. 2. Assuming local is the way to go, how big a pig is it to shift rego from interstate to NSW. In the searches i've done it seems it needs ALL slips (blue, green, pink) so if there are any mods i'm in for a bad day. 3. If all of the above are no-go's... anyone know of any good 260's up for sale in nsw (white preferred)? the only one i;ve found has been rebuilt had has 165lk on the clock (and if its no good i'll have to sit and wait for more to come up). and yes i'm posting this up in the stag and forsale sections. Thanks guys.

  7. Ordered a white gta last week, god knows when it will be delivered, they seem to speculate 5 months to 1year (null)
  8. Aldo worth mentioning the 6 month waiting list for tetsuyas. Modern Japanese fusion - toko in surry hills. (null)
  9. Using the iPhone ipb app. No skip to page numbers, so clicking on the lulz thread will always take you to page one. If you flick through all 500 pages to the end and then leave the thread when you return it still drops you on page one. Makes it impossible to see what the latest updates are for any long thread. 10. There are pictures of it on the net somewhere. It's not as simple as changing the bulbs like on a 33. But if you are patient and good with your hands it's not too hard. I'll see if I can find the link.
  11. And it's an orange film not the globe that colours it.
  12. R33 turbo setup is really no different to any other turbo setup with a inter cooler. So take hanaldos advice, do some research then look under your bonnet and figure it out.
  13. Why is it that you just didn't ask how hard it was to disable 4wd on a gtr. Use your brain some ok?
  14. Ok, things have become more urgent on this for me now... weddings in 11 months time Change of Tack, $6k for the lot as is... so basically, thats the cr kai's, hks exhaust, apexi pfc + hand controller, fc legit hardware and s/w, momo wheel split fire coils, shocks, brake lines, spare new clutch, spare old exhaust etc etc for $6k and a free car with all the stock left overs thrown in for free. Car has 126k km's on it bodies fine but the paint on the roof and bonnet is shite (too long under a car cover). And the old model 5 rims are nolonger available. PM me or call me on 0404003311 Simon
  15. Caspian border tower??? Crap! I snipe from up there.
  16. Its true torque isnt an an easy fix, and whilst comment of a boost controller away from more power is mostly true, a 33gtst will only meet close to 34gtt figures with this done, to get more you start talking ecu's turbo's exhausts etc etc. but i do agree with the nature of what your saying, turbo's do pack more potential. Giving the new 86 some credit and the benefit of the doubt, if we were to mod it in the spirit if its design you wouldnt approach it the same way as you would a rwd skyline. Adding a turbo with low boost and an exhaust could make the car more than quick enough, the main focus would likely remain on handling and speed through corners. i think given the general tendency of our mob to mod first and check legalities later that the consideration of legality is moot. and as for the talk of price, if the speculated price of ~30k turns out to be true, then you have a car with great handling a slightly worse off p/w ratio than your standard 1400kg 206kw j-spec car and a bunch of cash still up your sleeve. In the hope that this car will respond well to mods i'm happy to go out and say that i kind of welcome this. the current crop of cars out of japan dont really lend themselves to affordable modification, the r35 will take 10 years or so to reach close to equivalent to r34 gtr's price wise. The affordable end is a little lacking with 350gt's costing alot to turbo, m35 stags being stuck in auto (atleast for 4wd versions) and the vq30det offerings not being what i would call "nimble". So i agree, its not a new supra (which if it was most of us couldnt afford) and they havent ressurrected the 3sgte, but i'm taking this as the toyota mx5, it could be fun.
  17. ^ this +11ty Simple thing is, this is designed as a small well balanced car, with the main goal of handling well. I can't think of a current Toyota 4 cyl that would suit a sporting application. So why not grab one off subi? Also subi contributed to the interior and will sell their own version OS. Power to weight on this is better than an r33gtst and only slightly worse than a gtt. Now also remember that for all the coolness of our lines, they do have a tendency to be nose heavy and under steer some. Also, has anyone stopped to wonder what the modding potential is with this car? Could a~30k car +10k in mods turn into something special?
  18. To help him master the clutch park him on flat ground, some place really quite. Then teach him to get the car moving using only the clutch, no gas. One he can do that with no problems manual is a doddle.
  19. For those of us not in qld care to tape it so the rest of us can have a squizz?
  20. I'm sgtskinny if anyone wants to add me. R31nismoid, you proably received a random friend reqeust from me when I was mucking about with the interface.
  21. People with mortars in Seine crossing...... Grrrrrr!
