Plex tomorrow (4th)

Recommended Posts

I have got a medical and fitness evaluation for a job tomorrow arvo hence I can make work Wed. night:rolleyes: (thats what I'm telling work anyway)

So depending on how knackered I am and whether I can be bothered (I have more physical testing on Thursday so I might need to catch up on sleep) on the night I might head on down to the Plex.

Is anyone else planning on goin?

If so theres a 50/50 chance I'll be down there fangin the R, come up for a chat, 'cause unfortunately haven't been in the loop since the last wed. night drags I organised ages ago.

Cheers,

Ryan.

I wouldn't be asking for tips off me :(

I'm a follower of the "Buy a GTR and rev it till 7 or so, load up the drivetrain then jump off the clutch and change gears as fast as you can until you hit the line"

Not very scientific, difficult or perhaps even intelligent but it works for me, but then again I still haven't cracked a 12:D

I'm gonna head down. Just had the car tuned up so with any luck i'll pull a high 13.

Gtst vspec, you should head down to race. Your doin what I did, the whole time your watching your wishing you were raceing.

Why do you need to watch first??

The only reason I did is cause I had no helmet.

I'll save ya some time, holdens pull 13's-14's, most skylines pull 14's, some do 13's, gtr's do 12's, wrx's pull 14's, mazdas do 11's-14's.

And fords, ha ha, fords.

Thanks for the tip Hicks,

I could probably get a helmet by tommorow but I'm working till about 7:30, so I didn't want to give it a half hearted effort. The following Wednesday I will be prepared.

Hope to see you down there though.

See'ya:burnout:

I went down and saw a few runs from Hicks, Macka and adam32 ( I think :)

By the looks of it Hicks got into high 13's one run at 13.8 .. I think and the rest were low/mid 14's.

Macka had some sweet runs with a nice 13.06 and 13.07 and some 15.something run..

**** remember anymore :)

There was a sick speedworks 200sx but dropped a bit of white smoke on it's last run (blown turbo?).

Also saw a GTiR up against a S13 which was beating it up until half track when it basically slowed to a crawl to never come out again :)

Was a pretty good night with a all-holden burnout pad at the end.

No soarers this week, suprise suprise.

That's my recap :D

Well It seems Macka is breathing down the necks of the GTR boys and girls now with flat 13's. Thats where I'd like to be next time round. Might be a bit harder for me without that Mack-tastic power :)

A little birdy told me the track was 'treated' reasonably tonight, something I think they should do more of since more street cars are turning up to race.

Hicks, did you get that 13.8 you were chasing?

Adam32 how did you go with the boost over 8psi?

Well done everyone, seem's like (almost) everyone came back happy.

Hicks, what was your 60' like? Did you end up running on standard rear rims?

Macka, what was your terminal speed like? Must have been pretty good with a 12.98 1/4 and only a 2.25 60'.

adam 32, sorry to hear... give us details once you recover.

as far as i can tell...

on my first run with soft suspension, as i changed into 2nd the centre muffler (which is very low to the ground) bounced up and smashed into the diff. there is now a considerable oil leak and im assuming power wasnt being transferred through the diff and thus the shitty time of 14.4

    • Impossible to remove the housing while turbo is installed on the manifold on the engine. So I have to do it anyways. I plugged it so there will not be any debris in there. Will vacuum aswell
    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
